    ... carrots, onions, is slow cooked in a large dish topped with a high lid, and cooked in hot ashes. It was pretty yummy, and very filling. We were greeted with grappa: flavoured with plum, walnut, herbs, and some local figs dried with bay leaves. There was red and white wine and bread before the stew arrived.
    Feeling pretty happy at the end of this feast, we were ready for the 20kms of downhill home. What a buzz, zooming down the slopes with fabulous views of the mountains, ...

    ... such good fun!) and then out for dinner and drinks that evening. Had a very early start the next day - 7am - and I may have had the world's worst hangover too, but I left Split and took a trip out to the Plitvice Lakes. This is a national park about 3 hours from Split but absolutely worth the drive and, it turns out, a good hangover cure. The lakes were the most translucent blue I've seen and were just beautiful - met two Americans (Laura and the other lady's name I have forgotten) ...

    ... he thinks he saw a dolphin. We all start looking and yes, there they were! A little group of dolphins were circling some fishing nets. We hung out there with them for a while and then kept moving. We finished our day with a mojito on a really nice bar on an island just outside of Hvar. Not a bad day at all... :) Ps. I took a lot of nice pictures this day - but i used my regular camera and need a computer to transfer them to the blog... will update later! ...
