... they should try with the real kite. The real kite was a huge one, very unlike the training one she had been using. And she is really light, I had no idea how she was going to control it. But I was being supportive. She got into the gear, and then as I was watching from the shore, I saw she and her trainer enter the water. First she was just holding on to the trainer who was using the kite, but soon the kite was attached to her. I didn't see much of what was going ...

We've been travelling for a long time now. Ten months in fact, and we knew we were entering what was likely to be the penultimate country of our trip, and arguably the most complex of them all: Indonesia.

We like to think we know what to look out for to ensure as smooth a journey for ourselves as possible now and when to avoid places, if necessary. We landed in Jakarta at about midnight, took an official 'Bluebird' taxi to Big Hotel which we'd pre-booked, and checked in with ...

It was all pretty good. Karl and I both particularly liked the tofu/vegetable thing.

... the building mainly. There were some nice ships inside, but the building was a restored warehouse from the Dutch trading company, VOC.

From there, the guidebook said to go and see this harbour. As soon as I got there, a creepy man started touching my arm and telling me he was a tourism officer. Maybe he was, and I have heard that people are kind of touchy feely here, but he was giving me the creeps. As soon as I was ready to run, I turned around ...

    Bye bye Indonesia/Stuck in Malaysia

A travel blog entry by niomioconnor on Jun 16, 2014

... could damn right see I was alone and crying my eyes out. It was definitely the all time low point of the trip so far. I booked another flight for the next morning which cost about 23 pounds and then booked myself into the airport hotel which was a short walk away. Kuala Lumpur city centre is too far away and not worth it for one night on my own, especially as I've been recommended not to travel in Malaysia as a girl alone. The hotel only had rooms with double beds so I had to ...
