My next excursion lead me to the famous Cathedral Cove Beach. One of the key scenes in the movie "Narnia" was taken there. I hiked from Hahei beach via loads of ups and downs into every bay, awaiting this beautiful, secluded, white sand beach with its majestic rocks. Well, they were there. Finding Something
... technician comes out in Jo and she fashions a clever torch/beer bottle/sticky tape contraption that allows us to see in the pitch black. After hearing so much about how beautiful the stars are in New Zealand, we are a little gutted that it is so cloudy tonight, until as if just for us, the sky clears completely and we turn off the torch and stare up. After a while we settle down for another comfortable nights sleep.. or not. We are woken at about 1AM ...
Coromandel
... it is a pretty unique spot. You can hire a spate and dig a hole in a sand to create your own hot water spa. And trust me the water is very very hot.
Next stop was Waterworks, a funny little park mostly for children to see that water can create energy in very funny ways. Then I walked to a beautiful waterfall and the 600 year old Kauri trees.
The weather could have been better but I will be back next month and probably next year as well.
