We've left Lourmarin with some sorrow, but soon perked up when we got into the Alps. ... hour traffic. Now, imagine doing this for 4:30 at a time except for stoping for refuelling or a coffee break. But instead of riding at 110km/h you are riding at 130/140 constantly overtaking column of trucks and being overtaken by those drivers in a hurry. Add a bit of rain to top it up and then you will understand why I get a bit tired at the end of the day.

... they bought out candles, not to be romantic, they were running low on electricity! For the same reason we had no lights in our cramped dorm rooms, so we had to undress by headlamp. They had no wastebaskets and refused to take any trash because it was too hard for them to haul away, the location being so remote. Too add insult to injury, it was one of the most expensive refuges (about $135 for the two of us).
