My first impression of Florianópolis wasn't the best. I found it expensive, the island has terrible traffic congestion and I didn't like the travellers I met here. Everyone seems to be competing for the biggest boobs, the tightest bikini, the smallest speedos and the biggest abs! It's an area of wealth and people care a lot about image. ... was highly recommended to us by our hostel owner. Lucky had never been to Brazilian BBQ before and since the town was dead, we decided to go to this place for lunch. For those of you that have been to restaurant in Auckland called Wild Fire, well this is exactly it. We sat down with some salad and a bloke arrived with hot meat on a large skewer. We tried it and before we could finish the first meat, a second person arrived with another kind of meat. Basically this ...

    Beach Time!

... being conditioned like Pavlov's dogs! The bell would ring in the evening for free caipirinhas which we all gathered for before dinner which was prepared by the hostel again notifying us that its ready to be consumed by the ringing of the bell and like savages we would fill our plates and return for seconds. The weather had certainly turned the next day and after a run ...
