Friday was Olivia's last day in our little (emphasise little!) cabin, as she is off to spend a week with friends in Lyon. We decided the best option was to drive to Annecy, have lunch there, and a general wander around, with Olivia catching the 4 o'clock train to Lyon.

Although the day started slightly dull, by the time we reached Annecy the sun was out - albeit a little hazy at times. We parked at the station (which is VERY visible in the centre of the ...

This Saturday I spent the day in a beautiful mountain town towards Switzerland. It's not a very big town so there wasn't much to do for more than a day but it was a great day trip! We left Lyon at 7am, got there at 9am and then left around 6:30pm.

We started the day looking at the lake which is surrounded by mountains. It was so pretty and the water was so clear you could see all ...

After dinner, I decided since I had a 7:50 train to catch in the morning I was not going salsa dancing like I had originally planned (since that always runs really late), so I decided to go out with the others so I could leave in time to be home by 1:30 AM. So about 9:30 we make the trek over to the other residence hall. I say ...

... the two days we were there and little villages within the town. Unfortunately the two castles are closed over winter :( We also came upon a hotel in the town which looks exactly like the Grand Budapest from Wes Anderson's movie. Being in Annecy felt like I was in a Disney movie of sorts. I hope I can go back one day in the summer because I can only imagine how fun it would be, but definitely glad I got to see this beautiful town over the winter in all it's wonderland magic.

... hot-spring. I decide I'm doing this hot spring deal either way, and so get my first spa-type experience, which actually turns out to be really nice - I never imagined myself a spa person. There are 4 areas, cool pool, hot pool, steam room (hammam), and hot dry room (sauna). I start off in the cool pool, which is outdoors allowing you to drift around on those foam-noodles-flotation-things and gaze at the sky at little peeks of the peaks of the Alps, in between ...
