Ash got up at six when Katie messaged and hopped onto the internet for a chat. Left at 7:15 for the station, bought some breakfast at the bakery and validated our EU rail passes. ... went through big pine forests, was beautiful. I have never been snowed on before, only seen it already on the ground so catching big fresh snow flakes was soooooo much fun.

Last night it was cold and thundery and sleeting, so we were super excited to go to the snow fields with fingers crossed that what was horrid in Salzburg was magical in the hills.



Alarm at 0600 :(


Amazing breakfast at 0700, never seen anything like it, every sort of bread you could think of, fresh croissants, little pots of avocado, tomato ...

Breakfast next to an Italian family with four kids all vying for their frazzled parents' attention was a noisy experience and it was good to hear Italian and half understand what was going on. This hotel is a busy place, partly because there is a section that is more like a hostel with dormitories. It seems set up for snow skiing as well.

... Difficile a croire que l'on est en novembre et un mardi matin.



En soiree nous avons fini au cimetiere! Nous avions vu des lumieres
rouges du haut de la forteresse et, rendus sur place, on a pu voir des
centaines de bougies rouges. C'est une ceremomie pour les morts, le 1er
novembre fete des morts. Tres beau et tres emouvant!
