    The boys were already past their knees splashing about, Georgia was a little more reserved but enjoying the water too. Ashton had a few moments of panic when he wasn't fast enough to run away from the water. He was near tears until he saw our smiling faces and then he was grinning away again.

    Conrad found us and played with the kids in the water, he lifted a nude Georgia in the waves up to her tummy - she was giggling and shrieking away. ...

    Alexa had the pleasure of hearing a man and woman argue loudly this morning in the lobby when she and Brad were heading to the gas station market across the road. It was time to get out of the area.

    Our next stop was the Avenue of the Giants in the Humboldt Redwoods State Park. We did this 31 mile drive with all three kids in 2005. We worked backwards on the auto tour.

    We had one last claim in Yreka, all the way to the Oregon border and drove there after Burney Falls. From Yreka we needed to get to Petaluma. The plan was that we'd get to Petaluma by late afternoon, Clayton and Jen would join us with their kids and pizza.

    ... when suddenly our attention was drawn to the opposite shore where we could see a heron fishing on shore and a otter fishing in the water! The otter began rolling in the mud with the heron keeping a watchful eye on him. Then the heron would walk down the shoreline, and the otter would match his movement in the water!
