... to scores of hippies flocking here in the late 60's to take up rent free residence in the caves used for burials in Roman times.
We parked at the beach, there were a couple of other tourist cars parked, but no sign of the hippies, we were expecting groups of wrinkled faces with grey ponytails to be here!

Once we had payed and discussed what good year it is for olive oil, we drove into Ieropetra, the economic centre of the green house industry. We shopped and then looked for a top up shop, by the time we got to it it had closed for the afternoon, it amazes us that businesses make any money here, they always seem to be closed!

... 7 O'clock, we hung the nearly dry washing around where we could inside and decided a quick standby tea was in order, we keep a jar if pasta sauce for just these occasions, unfortunately I knocked it off the worktop and it smashed onto the floor splattering everywhere with tomato sauce, our 'last resort' tea was put into operation, soup and sandwich. We hope the weather will be better tomorrow so we can go into Heraklion for some ...

... known us a while will know about our trip to Lauterbrunen in Switzerland in the summer of 2005. http://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/floods-and- landslides-cut-off-alpine-villages/4686 902. ... in and parked up. Electric hook up is just what is needed in storms like this, it means we can have the heating on as much as we like without flattening the batteries. There also is wifi, which we can pick up in Dream Catcher. The storm is set to stay 3 more days, with cold temperatures and
