... oldest amphitheater in the world. Before all the ones we have seen so far! We also saw the minotaurs labyrinth. We never knew that the maze actually was the palace. It was a complicated layout! We then went up the mountain to see Zeus birthplace. It is a cave in the mountains. It represents his mother (rheas) womb apparently. The kids thought it was pretty cool. Last evening we went to dinner in Kritsa with the family. Kritsa is a small village up a hill from Elounda. It was a lovely spot to cool off and watch the sea and ...

Lasithiti Plateau is located inland and at a much higher elevation than Heraklion and is a series of twenty tiny villages. Some of the buildings in the villages still have no roofs from bombings in the World War Two invasion of Crete. The villages are known ...

... special trip. Once on the ferry I left them alone.

I'm going to take it easy tonight. It only hit me on the ferry ride back, but I did some great things on Crete. While planning this trip I had a vision in my head of cruising around the island on a motorcycle, taking in the sights, sounds, and smells, going where I wanted to go. I didn't get to accomplish everything I wanted, but for the most part I made it happen without loss of life or limb. Something to be proud of, I ...
