Today sees us leaving Witton Gilbert with Passports! Vicky took us to Durham Station and then we caught the train and bus to Manchester Airport! The whole journey went very smoothly, with the exception of lugging large cases up and down stairs at York but hey ho! Very early in Airport - 1hr before gate opened. Looking forward to being frisked by Si but he's in Teneriffe! Both well and now waiting for Gate to open and signing off for next ...

... struck lucky with our choice of hotel for the next few days. It was a great, classy, 16th century coaching inn with chocolates on your pillow at night and wonderful breakfast choices in the morning all for a bargain price. We got up, stuffed ourselves with breakfast, then went and had a look around Harrogate. The whole area including Harrogate was a bit of a trip down memory lane for us, as Amanda had worked up here shortly after we first met, so we'd spent a lot of time ...

Picked up the kids from school and told them they were off for their first set of Jabs. Nothing like a complete melt down in the playground. Emotions running high we met with the nurse, after mum and dad getting theirs it didn't make a scrap of difference it was a battle of wills.......we got there in the end. On leaving I advised the kids that they would be coming back for several more, im hoping that it will be easier 2nd, 3rd, 4th time round.

... the pick up was from a hotel across the road so we walked over to get it. I'd read a few bad reports on the net about Thrifty Heathrow but they were great and after signing things without reading them and declining any upgrades the girl handed us our keys. "This one's brand new it only has seven miles on it." She told us. Maybe we should have took out the extra cover that took the excess down from a £1000. We set off back to our hotel to ...

      A sad time

... memories, but mainly sitting around working out where to stay next.

So there is really very little to say in this blog for the time being as the trip is on hold until after the funeral. I have sent a load of pics which have been waiting until things settled down a little and have a few more to send when I get them on the computer.
