The overhanging mountain which shrouds the area creates a beautiful backdrop and although we weren't prepared enough to take on the full climb to Cima SAT with it's vertical metal ladders, we managed a 3 hour (ish) hike up to Santa Barbara chapel today, first stopping at the famous Bastion which was built in the 16th century and destroyed (in part) by the French army in the 18th century.
