The staff at this cute hotel near the lake was extraordinary! We arrived on New Years Eve and I didn´t know what time our glacier trek with Hielo y Aventura was the next day. The office was closed for the holiday and I had no travel voucher from them. The front desk went out of there way to help me with this stressful situation since we didn´t feel like driving to the National Park early in the morning if we didn´t have to. The front desk called a friend of hers, who called a friend of hers and the situation was taken care of. Thanks so much! The breakfast could include more as it was rather meager, but then again- no place in Patagonia included a breakfast with eggs, although they should have.

This hotel is by far the best one we have stayed at during our trip so far; the service is oustansing, the staff go beyond to try and help you, the rooms are good size and clean, the bed is soooo comfortable, the food at their restaurant is yummy and they can change as you want it. They are situated near the Nimez Lagoon where you can walk and see pink flamingos; they are only 15 minutes walk from the centre of El Calafate.
We would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody wanting to stay in El Calafate.

Our first stop in Argentina, after we successfully crossed the border, was the town of El Calafate. One of very few Argentinian towns without a main plaza or cathedral in the center of town, El Calafate was largely built for tourism purposes. People come to El Calafate in order to visit the southern part of Parque Nacional Los Glacieres. …

Today we decided to skip the optional activity of boating to a glacier and walking on it using crampons. We figured this something we could probably do in Canada although I'm sure it would be a cool experience. We slept in until 9, and then spent about an hour trying to use the extremely slow internet to download some new books. Our thought had …

... hidden in a pothole damages the tyre seriously, cutting off a part of the sole. But that takes only 20 minutes. Too many pictures, too long coffee breakes and lunch, a ferry ride and a customs inspection hold us up. In Monte Aymond, Chilean and Argentinian customs share a building, which makes the procedure quite a bit more efficient. Good thinking. Again, extremely friendly people. The Titulo procedure becomes a routine now. You get a Salida stamp in ...
