Tavewa Ave Lautoka, Viti Levu, Fiji, 666-0566
Lautoka is by far the nicest city, at least during daylight. Adam's tip (Lautoka Hotel) is golden. The highlands are going to happen. It took some serious bargaining to get half the deal that my colleague Adam got, but I think I did well enough. Just keep saying "no, sorry, can't do that!" and very soon, they are going to be like, "well how much are you looking to spend?" and you get regular rates, as opposed to ridiculously inflated ones. I can't think of anything else to say, because my not...
Lautoka, Fiji katieontherunFiji is made for people who love to trek because there are no poisonous animals at all, and no malaria and other types of fever, either. Just birds, hogs, frogs, lizards, bugs... There is also a worthwhile hike in the Colo-i-Suva Forest Park near here. For your five dollar entrance fee, you are provided with a map and the friendly ranger will describe the various hikes to you. Lucky no rain, birdsong everywhere. The trek is very nice, saw great green parrots, the pools, rivers, rainforesty pl...

... Giants we drove around Latoka trying to find a hotel. We drove for what felt like
forever! Finally we found a nice little hotel on the waterfront. The next day we caught a
cab to the wharfs. We had a coffee while waiting for our boat to arrive. When it did we all
claimed into a small boat considering how many people where in it. The boat ride took
an hour and a half and was absolutely amazing! We saw so many tiny islands and the ...
Octopus Island Fiji, Western, Fiji lpeacock... stingray yesterday during our snorkeling trips, and we all caught fish last night during our hand-line fishing trip off shore. Today we will learn to sail the catamaran and will hike to the top of the island on their "bush walk" trail. There are bats up there somewhere (we see them come out in the evening)...eeewww!

We are missing everyone, but enjoying every minute of this calm and peaceful island. Bula!
Solevu, Western, Fiji jhinsley... also functions as a hotel so as a result the meals they serve are delicious! On the second day I go for a ride along the beach. They do things quite differently there as expected. For starters there's no hat so you just have to rely on your skills and hope for a nice horse.....Also made the mistake of wearing shorts which reslted in a nasty wound but anyway.....the guy reckons i'll probably be a pretty good rider so leaves me to navigate the beach by myself. At first I don ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji beannie84... to Nanuya Lailai 1 (catchy name), the island where the Blue Lagoon was filmed, also an island I had stayed on with Jez and Soph and remembered as being lovely. Unable to afford the more exclusive resort on the Blue Lagoon itself, we stayed round the other side of the island and had a very hot scramble through a very overgrown path over the top of the island (during which I managed a slip up onto my bum and take a brief slide down into mud) to reach the lagoon. Happily though we weren't ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji jessjamie... you'll be all the better for it. people have asked me how much my trip has cost, and to tell you the truth i have no idea. i dont really care either. traveling while you can is worth more than any amount of money to me. guess some people are just crazy like that. theres more to living than just having a brand new car and a kick ass house (although it is pretty sweet) but those things come with the price of your enjoyment ...

That should have provided further warning to me of what the streets of Lautoka are like, because of the armed guard on the door, complete with baton, who unlocked the door at our approach to let us in. As we passed through the door he quickly locked it closed behind us. After changing Australian bank notes into Fijian currency, we ...
