The clothes shops blasted out music from speakers facing the street, we dodged goats, dogs and chickens.     ... when in Rome etc, but distinctly remember twice yelling at people to **** off out of my face. Liza will tell the same story with added tension and tears. I know people have to make a living. I know we are rich westerners by comparison. But there is a difference between an honest attempt to help (for money) and a crooked deception designed to fleece.     ... Apart from the above we ate some decent food and waited for the time to pass so we could leave to go inland for hopefully something more exciting. We got offered a private car trip to Kandy for a really good price so we decided to take it. Otherwise we would have had to go to Colombo, get a train which we were unsure of whether they were running because of land slide disruptions (which our guest house owner planted in our head to sell us a guided tour).
