Fun in the Sun!

Most relaxing vacation we've had ever! All-inclusive is the ONLY way to go for a vacation like this where not much sight seeing is in the itinerary. We had all the food and drinks we could manage plus the non-motorized water sports such as snorkeling and Hobie windsail. We could have kayaked but didn't get around to it. The nightly entertainment was cheesy but fun (cheesy made it fun!). The wait staff couldn't have been more friendly, attentive and helpful. I couldn't believe how hard they wo...

... to meet my Argentinian friend Christina and she showed her book which was a coffee table book with beautiful pictures of the town of Bariloche and its surrounding region. It looked like a stunning place to visit and I promised to myself that I'd try to get there. After saying farewell to Christina I headed back to the hostel. That evening myself, Ian and the Germans had quite a bit of fun drinking and playing card games. Well it was the low season and so not much else to do outside the hostel.

Holiday week 2008 in Chan Chemuyil

... to keep the DJ playing for an extra hour, but when the music stopped, the party refused to do so! We busted out the iPod docking station and continued playing music for another hour. Although we left the party shortly before 1, we heard a fun group brought out the guitars and played their own music into the morning hours. Apparently we have our own resident musicians - Nolan and Jim ... P.S. There was no formal Festivus pole, no airing of grievances or feats ...

... around in Playa like a chicken with its head cut off. I went to 7 stores and was home by 1:30pm. Found just about everything I needed, but this was the 3rd time in Playa - so it meant sacrificing with stuff that would just have to do. I didn't really like anything. Dettaglio is in the same plaza with Soriana and has some neat stuff, but it's not cheap. I also later noticed the location of Actual Decoracion but by then I had everything including new bedding, a water ...

... be there in person for this part because it is hard to visualize size and description. We nailed down a design that was exactly what Chris and I had in mind and by the end of the week when it was taking shape, I was so pleased at how it was perfectly executed. Again, I probably sound like a commercial for Falcon - but I was so impressed! Their "maestro" was able to orchestrate precisely what we wanted with just a few markings made with a red pencil on the floor and wall. I am ...

... no way I could manage those or the steep ramp next to them on my own. I quickly looked around for a porter... Of course, no porter or anyone else in sight. Probably all hiding around the bend behind me, snickering away hysterically. So, with a deep breath and a prayer for strength, l reached for my bags with uncertainty, at which moment a gentleman ina business suit appeared out of thin air and asked if he could help me, and inquired as to ...

We trekked around the restaurants and came across a very glamorous renedered brick and thatched roof party house being built. it was ingeniously powered by a system af wind mills and solar panels.... fantastic design and we immediately thought of flying all our friends over for a party here. Deluxe location. I watched large sea birds spread ...

... 100 metres away. One thing we have noticed and are getting sick of is backpackers that are not friendly. A simple smile and "Hello" is ok guys, there is really no need for the dirty look as you elbow past. You are not the only ones trying to find a nice place to visit. Obviously not everyone is unfriendly so no offence to anyone that goes out of their way to smile and look like they are enjoying being on holidays.

Change of Plans, Goodbye Belize...hola Mexico!

Hola mi amigos y amigas, yes, we´re in Mexico. It wasn´t originally on our travel plans, but we´re so glad to be here. First of all, Happy Thanksgiving too all. One of our most challenging tasks is trying to figure out what day it is always. We left our nice jewelry-watches at home and bought th 3 dollar versions with no date on it. I tried to make a calendar on the back of my journal, but was off by a day! We figured out that it was Thanksgiving after running ...
