Travel Blogs from Barcelona
Hello everybody!!! After I came back from a one week honeymoon vacation in Barcelona, I decided to start writing a travelogue describing my experiences in this beautiful city. What started as travelogue writing, continued and developed to be a comprehensive website, a complete travel guide to Barcelona (including photos). In this Barcelona website …
... Monte Carlo casino, again wow! I'm not huge on gambling but of course had to have a go just to say I did. I was more than happy to just sit and people watch, there were some interesting sights that's for sure. We only had an hour at the casino which was fine with me any longer there and I would have been bored. Plus I was looking forward to a quiet night as I really wasn't feeling the best. Day two in Nice was a free day to do absolutely anything we wanted to do, this was exciting ...
... and in Barcelona you need it all, for the hot days spent wandering around the busy main streets and plethora of small alleyways, and for the wild nights of partying! Having done no prior research on any part of my trip I knew nothing about Barcelona except that they spoke Spanish, Catalan, and English, and that I could go to the beach!-which is pretty much all I cared about. :) So when I got to Barcelona I was somewhat shocked but very pleasantly surprised to be thrust into ...
... steer whilst peddling in our seats to keep the plane moving. Of course this was not the case.. Summary of our RyanAir experience: 1. Our carry-on luggage did not even get checked 2. The flight was much better than expected 3. There wasn’t a 16 year old flying the plane as we had been informed was common 4. We did not have to assist the plane in its flight to Spain – meaning no pedalling Finally we had arrived in Girona, caught ...
... standing ovation for the rousing show.
A new destination was on the horizon for the day to come, with that in mind we took a ride home via the underground and gathered our belongings in anticipation of the next trip to Madrid. This being our first and only real day in town, I would say that today was a great introduction to a fascinating city, country, and culture all the same. The last leg of this journey begins tomorrow in the morning, so for now I say adios mi amigos, ...

Hotel room was spacious and clean. Staff helpful and courteous although English a bit limited. Free wifi worked well. 2min easy walk from Clot metro station or train from the airport. Interesting residential area. Check out Parc de Clot as a great example of urban renewal and an extensive market avenue for local food, etc. About 15min walk to Sagrada.

Nice little hotel
Nice little hotel. good tube and rail connections from Clot station.
even walked back from town centre one afternoon via the cathederal. The room was small but clean and quadruple glazed onto the main road. I am sure there are nicer hotels in town but not for 40 quid for the room per night. Did get done for 2X breakfasts on checking out which they claimed were not included!! but it was only 20 euro's. I would recomend it to a friend and go back myself.
Ideal for short trips
We were booked into this hotel "cold" by Ryanair and then read a couple of the bad reviews on this site. BUT, we found the Hotel great. The rooms, although not overlarge, were adequate, clean and well equipped.
The staff were friendly and helpful with free town guide and advice.
Breakfast was superb. The Metro at Clot takes you to all places of interest in the city for 1.10 euros (80p!). The hotel provides a secure, ticketed left luggage service on check-out day - ideal if you are on a late evening return flight. If flying from Girona use the train from Clot (6.35 euros) and the airport bus from Girona Stn (1.65 euros). We would definitely stay again.
Great Value for money
Went to Barcelona for a break with three friends. Booked the Hotel on the Internet. It was a little out of the way but the metro is yards away and you go direct to the centre with no hassles. Although i did think the exterior street was a bit dissapointing, the Hotel itself was great. Rooms very clean, bathrooms spotless and like everyone else thought the breakfast was superb. Recommended the Hotel to friends who also enjoyed their stay and now am going back in a few months with my husband.
My girlfriend and I went to Barcelona for a couple of days. Having read of the problems with street-thieves in Barcelona, we decided to leave some of our valuables in our hotel room, safely locked in a suitcase.
Irish user must have stayed at a different hotel!!!
The hotel is 2 minutes walk from Clot underground, which takes you to Catalunya Square in 5 minutes. Around the corner are a plethora of local boutiques, bars, and restaurants. The hotel is itself clean, bright and great value for money (less than £40 per ROOM per night incl the biggest freshest continental breakfast i've experienced for some time.) The evening meal we had was great value and of good quality. The staff were by far the most pleasant people we met in Catalan, as we found most Catalunyans could'nt speak English, French or Spanish allegedly, a bit like people in Newquay only speaking Cornish!!!
Weekend from Hell
I booked a weekend break for myself and my mother to go over to Barcelona on a Saturday morning and return home on the following morning. I found this hotel on the Internet at a very reasonable price, as it was for one night only, I decided to book it. I was told it was within walking distance to the main shopping area..it was if you wanted to walk for an hour..there was no food served in the evening when we got back and on the way back to the hotel in the taxi he didn't know where it was because it was so far out..I was disgusted...the only good thing about this Hotel??, was the breakfast the next morning...it was lovely..toooo far out of the way and more like a hostel than a hotel....
Having heard from a rival tourrist bureau that this hotel was "awful", we were surprised to find a hotel excellent in all aspects though a bit far away from the centre. If we pay a return visit to Barcelona we shall certainly go to the Aragon again.
Lucky or what!
Having read the review on the Adagio Hotel, thank God we didn't stay there. Instead we stayed 3 nights at the 3*Aragon Hotel, carrer d' arago just a few metres walk from Clot Metro line. The hotel was excellent, clean modern comfortable serving an outstanding breakfast with just about everything you could possibly want on the menu and more. Would definately stay there again and would highly reccommend it.
Great, out of the way hotel
My wife and I spent 4 days in Barcelona in Oct, 2003. Reasonably priced hotels near Las Ramblas had no rooms for the time we were there. The Catalonia Aragon is a couple of short blocks from the Clot Metro and rail station. The breakfast was superior.
Off the beaten path....
My daughter and I stayed here the last week of Jan of 2003. This hotel is way off the beaten path, a little run down, but the trains are only 2 blocks away and the Segrada is 4 blocks. Rooms small, nothing fancy. Great staff. The breakfast alone makes this place great. Was able to only eat two meals a day. Full spread. Our breakfast came with our room, so recommend that portion to get. Fresh baked pastries that you can smell throughtout the lobby. Great bang for your buck!
