Ħhola de buenos aires!!!

so i got here saturday morning. stayed in a hotel the first night & just met up with my group from school today. it seems cool so far. i have two roommates from my school - ayana & william. both people i wouldn´t normally befriend, but whatevs. lol. they´re a lil younger than me & it shows, lol. ayana asked if i was a vegetarian because, you know... "people with that natural look usually are". i wanted to smack her, but i politely told her that i was also a vegetarian when i had a perm & wore...

To Buenos Aires

Time to head for the big city. I got the most comfortable bus of all my travels so far. We got going in the evening for the overnight run and were served with hot dinner with wine. I had a good sleep in the reclining seats and we arrived in BA in the early hours, The scenery on the way changed from forest to flat grasslands. i took a city tour as its too big to explore yourself if you are new. There is obvious wealth here and there are also perts that are very run down. Some parts of the skyl...

... to San Telmo and even recognised where to get off. That is one of the advantages in staying in one place for more than a couple of days! We had a giggle at the ‘Super Amigos’ chair in a local arty shop on the walk back home from the bus stop. Unfortunately my photo through the window is a bit blurred but you can just about make out Jesus with his super-hero saintly friends (but I don't think they include Gauchito Gil).

... me but we sat on the balcony upstairs in the sun, and I had an amazing sandwich. As I was eating I gazed out over the street and a little bird popped its head over the balcony, its feet resting on the branches of a nearby tree. It cocked its head at me and watched me eat inquisitively; amused by this I decided to tear off a bit of my bread and stretched out my hand toward it. The bird twitched its little head and looked around carefully, before hopping towards me, grabbing ...

Buenos Aires

Hi again,

We had a superb few days in Buenos Aires to sadly finish our Argentine 6 months. In between wandering around loads of brilliant museums, streets and bars we consumed as much steak, ice-cream and red wine as as physically possible, only to later discover that the Uruguyans aren´t shy of any of those either.
I spent the Sunday morning here ruining breakfast for everyone else by shouting at Millwall´s defeat to ...

... tour, through a neighbourhood called ´La Recoleta´, which is the richer part of town. There we visited several museums, famous statues and the grave of Evita Peron in the cemetry for the Buenos aires elite. Both days were very nice and a good way to get to know some nice people. Later I stayed a few nights with my freind Gonzalo, with whom I was studying in Madrid. I went with ...

... looking for food and an Aussie came up and asked if I wanted to sit with him and a Canadian. I had some yummy empandas (pastries filled with meat) with them, before it was time to leave. The bus was very nice (Urquiza company), but the airconditioning was freezing which wasn't good for the sore throat I was developing. In Buenos Aires Santiago met me off the bus and we caught a local bus the short distance to his house. Santiago lived ...

Warming up to Buenos Aires

... BA. Many have heard that the city is often considered the "Paris of South America"...walking around Centro, Microcenter and Plaza de Mayo, I realized that it's not because this is a city full of obnoxious waiters. Though there were some excellent sights, I was mostly underwhelemed with the experience of walking around a crowded and polluted downtown and soon became anxious to head back to lovely Palermo. Returning home, I had a quick rest and then left to meet a new ...
