Getting old
... And the streets were quite crowded for this time of year.
The weather was nice, a bit chilly, but nothing like the fierce storm last year when we camped on the other side. The boat ride over was a bit rough (and later in the day people had it much worse), but I didn't get sick, which means it wasn't too bad. The return was smooth as silk, a bit unusual for late in the afternoon, but no complaints from me.

A day by the seaside
... where do they come from and where do they live? I eventually made it back to Gardena and revisited Ya Yaa, this time sticking with only the main course - Beef Yellow Curry. What was delivered to my table was accurate on all three counts.
Tomorrow I hope to visit downtown as the traffic may be easier. Who knows?
Let's hope I wake up to a Saints victory and promotion.

A island away...and yet so close!
... rods out for a day of fishing as well as a host of restaurants serving up hungry tourists. I was surprised to see so much activity on the island at that early hour, but its a small place, so on that side of the island seemed to be where all the action was.
We window shopped for a bit to kill time before boarding our bus for a 2 hour open bus island tour, which took us to various points of interest on the small island. We decided to ...
Cruising without Kids on Disney
We wondered, no pun intended...how our experience would pan out cruising on Disney without kids. It turned out great! Half the time we were saying, kids? What kids? The ship has great adults only areas and due to the popularity of the kids clubs and activities, there is a good vibe around the ship for everyone.

Bon Voyage - At Sea for Four Days

We got up and called Georganne to see if they wanted to go to breakfast. Poor Georganne is now very, very sick. She is going to stay in bed. Kaptain and I went on to the buffet. We checked back with her later and found she was no better. We told her we would call her later in the afternoon.

Satisfied customer
From the moment we arrived we had an excellent time. The shuttle driver informed us of all the good points of interest. Upon our check-in, the front desk clerk Chris, was very helpful in planning our tour attractions. The room was very clean, comfortable, and affordable. I will definitely be a repeat customer and recommend this hotel to my friends.
Perfect stay
Had a great stay at a great little hotel. Rooms were very clean and nice. Ours had a kitchenette and jacuzzi tub. We hardly left the room.
Not a real large room but nicely put together with a affordable price.
I give it two thumbs up.
Hell of a hill, but enjoyed the stay
Went for a mid week getaway by myself, and found the Cat Beach house with the most affordable rates, and many ammentities. Loved it will go back again.
I Liked It
Other than the walk up that damn hill I think the place is great. Each room has a private bath. Our room had a kitchenette with everything you might need provided, right down to the coffee to put in the coffeemaker. There is a patio area with a BBQ (utensils once again provided), the room was exceptionally clean, the bed was comfortable enough and there was an air conditioner, a T.V. and a VCR in the room.
They'll loan you 2 movies per day from their video library (which has a decent selection of movies) or if you'ld like something a bit more adult oriented you can go to the video shop downtown and rent something else(around $5 plus a $20 per movie deposit ). I mean really, what more can you expect for around $40 per night? tax included.
Changed my mind about staying
I found this hotel in the Internet. I was looking for a hotel for an upcoming trip to Catalina, so I made a few phone calls around the island. When I called this hotel, the person quoted me $65 for the particular night I wanted to stay (Sunday), then I decided to stay 2 nights (Saturday & Sunday), but the rate went up to $145/per night.
Then I read the bad reviews this hotel has on the internet, and I decided to pay a little more for something worth my money.
This hotel makes me not go to Catalina anymore
1.TOO EXPENSIVE for a Crappy room
First of all, I have to say that the cost effectiveness of this hotel is horrible. I saw the ads of this hotel on the internet and paid $125 and thought that could get us a clean and comfortable room. However, the room we got was OLD, SHABBY, NARROW with dirty dark carpet.
NO shampoo, conditioner, tooth paste and brush that a hotle even a motel regullarly offers.
You might think that $125 cannot get a decent room in Catalina island during the travel season. But that is not the truth!!
Due to the rage at that crappy room, we did research on the hotel price while staying in catalina island, we found that $125 can get a more than decent room in Catalina island !! I almost could not believe my eyes when I saw the rooms of other hotels. They are much bigger and CHEAPER even with better location!
Hotel Vicent which is just located 5 minites walking to the beach has much bigger room, bathroom and TV costs only $100 with AAA card.
Catherine hotel is located on the street by the beach can offer the same size room but cleaner, more comfortable with shampoo, tooth paste and brush only $90.
2. Don't make decision before seeing the room
if you want to make a deal with Catalina Beach hotel. You have to pay for the whole price when you make reservation and it is not refundable.
I booked a room and paid the whole price by phone before seeing it.
Then we got a crappy room. A family which stayed next to us in the hotel had twice bigger room and paid around 100 dollars. That gave us a lesson:"do not pay for something unknown if it is not refundable"
You may choose it due to its seemingly lower price. we highly recommend you to see it before you make any decision.
BTW, the description about that hotel on some websites is" one street to the beach" When we got there walked hard uphill,we would realize what one street to the beach means.
Seeing is beliving is what we learned from staying in this hotel.
Okay, friendly, but a little disappointed
The staff was friendly and efficient. However, the room we had was okay, but the bathroom/shower was very small.
Cute little place
Cute little place, clean and fairly quiet room. Has a kitchenette in the room and an outdoor seating/barbecue area. We stayed there mid-week and got a great deal. Staff was very friendly. The rooms were very small though...we plan to visit again soon and we'll probably try a different hotel hopefully with a larger room.
Repeat guest
My Family and I have been visiting the Catalina Beach House Hotel for well over 12 Summer Seasons now,(12 years). We have never encountered anything except for a great vacation. The Staff has always been over extensive on Hospitality, and have always made us feel right at home.
My recommendatins are if you are planning a trip to Beautiful Catalina Island, we highly recommend this Hotel....
Cool little place!
Upon arrival, my wife and I were greeted at the boat and brought to the hotel. The hotel was nice and the people there were excellent. The manager I think her name was Diane went above and beyond helping us plan our whole time on the island. The room nice with a kitchen and everthing. One night we decided to spend in and were able to check out a couple of movies from their large collection. I had a great time and I would do it all over again.
