... was outrageous, sooooo many trucks and of course everything travelling very quickly. It was most tiring for John as the driver. The closer we got to Milan the worse it got, anyway, we survived. Luckily the road basically bypasses Milan and we were soon in Como.

Well, after our unfortunate first night experiences, we did sleep well, , and the shower did work, so we felt (a little) better, though still didn't like Milan! Anyway, we set off for the Ambrosiana Gallery, and had a wonderful time there. Joy is writing separately about the art we saw, so this bit concentrates on what Michael did while Joy was in the gallery - for four hours!!

After strolling around for a while, I joined the queue to see the Raphael ...

... the highest point in the road Video Girl and Battery Boy marvelled at the spectacular vistas offered of the lake. It also provided eye popping views of the vertical drops beside the road as the bus began to pick up more speed, almost shaving the metal guards as the driver, 'Big Willie' took every right hand bend.

Battery Boy knew the bus ride was getting more exciting when he heard a Cockney tourist named Charlie Croker, at the rear of the bus say, "I've got ...
