Somewhere in France - Jour 5
... rouler sur des petites routes sinueuses au beau millieu des Alpes durant la NUIT, ce n'est PAS agréable), nous arrivâmes à Tournon-sur-Rhône qui est enfin une "vraie" ville. Nous y trouvons donc notre hôtel et y prenons un repas bien mérité avant d'aller nous effondrer dans la chambre.
PS : Nous avons appris comment composer un numéro de téléphone français durant le repas grâce à la serveuse qui devait nous trouver un peu étranges.

Valence
Valence's historic old town is built on a river bank, so many of the streets are actually stairs up and down the side of a hill. Far more peaceful than Lyon, it was nice to just wander about the park and the old town and have some green time and some ...
Going down, Bourgogne and back on the rivers
... it is only 10am! Not having to wait for the few locks there are to open helps and because it is so hot, starting early before the heat gets into the sun is more comfortable – I even went swimming last night just to try and cool off. If we can get somewhere with electricity, Stefan has modified the air con and we can use that to help sleep a bit more comfortably.
Lyon from the water is much more romantic and cultural than the normal race round the periphery ...
Day 2 exploring with Annick & Francoise
... t remember the name of the village, but again it was gorgeous! Its feature was the stone pont built over its river. We walked through this lovely little village and were told that most of the houses were vacant - locals had moved away for work and the village numbers were dropping dramatically and not being replace, very sad.
We walked down to the river - another drinks stop and more photos. Had a quick look at a local gallery while we were there then hit the road back to Grenoble.

Francoise & Stef's holdiay house in the mountains
Vendredi (Wednesday)
Francoise and Stef had kindly invited us to stay a couple of nights with them and Annick in their family holiday home in the mountains- between Saint Agnan & La Chappelle en Vercors. So the five of us headed off in two cars, Stef leading and us following.
