More quaint villages and more stunning driving brought us through a lush region of fruit trees [mostly apples] all under netting. Increasingly large numbers of vines are appearing also They are well watered from a channel fed from a dam tens of kilometres away We settled into a nice hotel in this town which is a town full of history and nestled in a ...

Today we woke up a little unsettled as we were too tired last night to make a plan for today. We knew we didn't have anywhere to stay tonight but we couldn't stay in Paris any longer as we needed to get moving. So we spent a very pleasant hour in the garden of the local, not at all concerned about the boat delay! Another impromptu happening which was a treat! Finally back on board and over the loud speakers a huge burst of music to announce that the river had slowed enough to allow us to sail, hurray we are finally on a river ...

It literally means from farm to farm. It is the weekend when many farms in the region open their gates to the public to have a look around and sample the products. So off to the snail farm. D isn't allowed to eat them but he wanted to see how they are produced. Amazing! Loads of large snails crawling over wooden structures, eating a floury meal, pooing freely and laying lots of baby snails. Other than ...
