Absolutely brilliant spot to get away! Admittedly we were only here 2 days but it was a highlight. Kayaking around with just us on the water. Swimming on a deserted beach and eating endless amounts of food! Look forward to coming again. Did via a Imperial Junk boat cruise $120 USD 3 days 2 night.

A magical spot, walking distance from the center of town and tucked away in a prvate cove. The "estate" is huge, room for al quests to sprawl out on lawn chairs, under bamboo huts, on kayaks and windsurfers. The outdoor private stone shower is a dream.

After having a decent look around for a decent deal in Hanoi we finally found a great company to do Halong Bay with. We chose to go with Imperial Cruise Junk boat and got it for $120 USD for 3 days and 2 nights which seemed pretty sweet, especially as it included all food!

I woke up at the relaxing hour of 4:45 to make the early bus to Cat Ba, an island in Lan Ha Bay (right next to Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site). Halong Bay is known for its otherworldly karsts, which are giant limestone outcroppings. Geologic activity 500 million years ago thrust limestone up out of the sea almost a kilometer high, and the limestone has slowly eroded to only leave these giant rounded rock structures popping out of the water. Unfortunately, although Vietnam ...

... was broken to which he just laughed. He dropped us off near our hotel and asked for 250,000 dong for a 5 minute journey. Madness. At the hotel, the receptionist showed us to a very odd room which is obviously where she and the other receptionist live where we were able to shower and change. We then ran to get some food for a restaurant we liked around the corner. As we were eating, a guy on a motorbike interrupted us telling ...

... explored Ha Long Bay before stopping for a couple of swims - far too many photos of us jumping off the boat. We were also supposed to have the opportunity to do some snorkelling, but the high tide and wind meant we were unable to anchor the boat anywhere suitable. Nevertheless, we got some extra swimming opportunities instead. The tour was very much what we had hoped, and the views managed to suffice our very high expectations! Back at the hostel for the evening, we got ...

... sand for a bit of Sun. Some Vietnamese guys were quite fascinated with me and Laura and wanted to have a photo with us, which they then went and showed all they friends like a conquest. Apparently they don't see many white people and like to have a photo to put on Facebook. Flattering I'm sure. All returned to the main cruise for the sunset party, which involved a free sip of red wine (only enough for a sip in the glass) and a few cakes. We watched the sun set ...
