Absolutely brilliant spot to get away! Admittedly we were only here 2 days but it was a highlight. Kayaking around with just us on the water. Swimming on a deserted beach and eating endless amounts of food! Look forward to coming again. Did via a Imperial Junk boat cruise $120 USD 3 days 2 night.

A magical spot, walking distance from the center of town and tucked away in a prvate cove. The "estate" is huge, room for al quests to sprawl out on lawn chairs, under bamboo huts, on kayaks and windsurfers. The outdoor private stone shower is a dream.

After having a decent look around for a decent deal in Hanoi we finally found a great company to do Halong Bay with. We chose to go with Imperial Cruise Junk boat and got it for $120 USD for 3 days and 2 nights which seemed pretty sweet, especially as it included all food!

Instead of paying 200 for the typical 2 night boat tour to Halong bay which involves loads of drinking we booked a $15 bus and ferry to Cat ba island. It is one the the many islands near Halong bay that has a large fishing port to get a sailing boat from. It's a really pretty seaside town with 3 beautiful beaches. We stayed here for really cheap and spent the first day at the beach then ...

... split the groups and we only had 10 on our boat – a really good number. We first went through Lan Ha Bay and a big floating village. The people that live here are usually poor fishermen and their families, and they all squeeze into one room. They farm fish in nets at the front of the house. They also keep a few dogs for protection and, apparently, for meat. The scenery here is spectacular, with huge limestone karsts of different shapes and sizes ...

... the kayaks. We returned to the junk and the sun had popped out so we all sat out soaking up the rays. Some of the younger members went swimming around the junk and started jumping off the first deck. Included in this jumping was a little 4year girl who jumped with her mum and dad. How brave was she, she swam like a fish. Lunch consisted of another 12 courses, including pork, fish and prawns. Everybody was shattered after this and ...

We are woken by the gentle pitter patter of footsteps on the wooden floor of the deck above. Tai Chi was on offer at 6.30am on the sun deck and I had had a vague notion I might try this as I climbed into bed last night. But we only have time for a quick wash as breakfast finishes in 30 minutes!Straight after breakfast there is a trip to a floating village and a chance to get up close and personal with the scenery here as we transfer from ...
