Absolutely brilliant spot to get away! Admittedly we were only here 2 days but it was a highlight. Kayaking around with just us on the water. Swimming on a deserted beach and eating endless amounts of food! Look forward to coming again. Did via a Imperial Junk boat cruise $120 USD 3 days 2 night.

A magical spot, walking distance from the center of town and tucked away in a prvate cove. The "estate" is huge, room for al quests to sprawl out on lawn chairs, under bamboo huts, on kayaks and windsurfers. The outdoor private stone shower is a dream.

After having a decent look around for a decent deal in Hanoi we finally found a great company to do Halong Bay with. We chose to go with Imperial Cruise Junk boat and got it for $120 USD for 3 days and 2 nights which seemed pretty sweet, especially as it included all food!

... there. We had a lesson in traditional spring roll making before a feast for dinner including our spring rolls made with love and care.

The bed room was interesting, there were 2 beds with mosquito nets and fans. Hannah got into bed to find a bug already waiting for her there. We had been warned that the electricity would be switched off at 5am, so woke up early very warm.

      Due to the electricity ...

We go for a bite with Nat and Jake, the British couple. They are on holiday in Vietnam for 3 weeks and are ...

... it's their way of shuffling tourist about to the different cities. Our next ship was a little tug boat that took us to a remote beach for swimming. Nervously I jumped right off the top deck and into the water. As we swam to shore, we noticed tons and tons and tons of garbage lining the beach and all in the water! It really soiled the experience. In fact, all of halong bay is littered with garbage and beer cans of all sorts. It really takes away from ...

After reading about Ha Long Bay online I didn't know what to expect. Would it be a gorgeous, otherworldly paradise, or an overrun, dirty, noisy bay that was beautiful once but had its heyday 20 years ago? I braced myself for the worst, which is perhaps why my expectations were completely blown out of the water, so to speak.

We booked a private 3-day cruise around Ha Long Bay: just our family, a private boat, a staff of 11, and the open water. From the moment ...
