Woke up, had breakie on the boat. First stop was an oyster farm, interesting the way they farm them. Got my mum a pearl for her bday. Back on the boat and then changed over to a smaller one and headed to cat ba island. Looks beautiful. Ended up in ...
... The scenery is beautiful but the marine park is heavily polluted. When you add the over charging and the special weekend rate its puts Cat Ba firmly behind Sa Pa and our disappointment has us wishing we'd done it the other way around.
We bumped into Gonzo and his swimshorts, they were negotiating massage terms. He leaves today and continues his trip by bike. We'll catch the bus and boat back to Hanoi tomorrow for just a day before the start of our long journey South.
... to the top on our mopeds, some people were walking but it looked like a lot of effort and we didn't come travelling for hard work. We reached the top and even though a storm was brewing it was a really impressive view of Cat Ba, the sea and islets popping up through the water. Summer spring rolls cooking class, basically we got to build our rolls and learn ...

Free, delicious breakfast, good air con, clean room, nice shower, tv, friendly staff and good company. I couldn't have asked for a better place to veg out. Thanks Bek!! Off to ...

A magical spot, walking distance from the center of town and tucked away in a prvate cove. The "estate" is huge, room for al quests to sprawl out on lawn chairs, under bamboo huts, on kayaks and windsurfers. The outdoor private stone shower is a dream.
