Absolutely brilliant spot to get away! Admittedly we were only here 2 days but it was a highlight. Kayaking around with just us on the water. Swimming on a deserted beach and eating endless amounts of food! Look forward to coming again. Did via a Imperial Junk boat cruise $120 USD 3 days 2 night.

A magical spot, walking distance from the center of town and tucked away in a prvate cove. The "estate" is huge, room for al quests to sprawl out on lawn chairs, under bamboo huts, on kayaks and windsurfers. The outdoor private stone shower is a dream.

After having a decent look around for a decent deal in Hanoi we finally found a great company to do Halong Bay with. We chose to go with Imperial Cruise Junk boat and got it for $120 USD for 3 days and 2 nights which seemed pretty sweet, especially as it included all food!

Cat Ba Island is a large island between Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay featuring jungle covered limestone karst formations that also fill both bays. It attracts a fair amount of visitors but not quite as many come to stay on the island. Our trip there included 3 buses and a small ferry.  I was amazed at how much industry and shipping we saw on the way out of Hanoi. Huge warehouses and factories lined the highway once we got away from the city. Some names ...

I am daily grateful for the strong support of my family and closest friends, my TESL classmates and other teachers I have met along the way. These are the people who truly respect and understand my drive and passion. Thank you.

This weekend can be immediately classified as a success. Wow.

I woke up early to check on the status of my interview for a job in Honduras. The recruiter hadn't replied yet, so I told her I was going to the beach for the weekend and could do an interview on Sunday. Yep, no problem, she replied to me just before I went out the door.

At eight, I went to buy my ferry ticket and surprise surprise, there was a boat leaving at ten thirty, with express service to Quan ...

... it!! We have been really lucky with the the weather so far. It started a little overcast, with pockets of blue sky, but then we came into some dark clouds and it started to rain, but we came out the other side to beautiful blue skies. Every direction you turn is just amazing, and photos really do not do it justice. Our first stop yesterday, after lunch (which was delicious, and so much food! A lot of it is seafood, so I've said that I'm vegetarian. And it ...
