... one point there was a sudden increase in population and it turned out to be coaches from the cruise ships dropping people off, often for just an hour from what I overheard! I know that's the way to do it if you want to see the the key places in one day, or two at the most, but it must be hard to rush round a place like the hippy market. Most people were moving either very very slowly, or not at all.

... statue is huge and kind of looming through the clouds. As we people watched we saw that there was a wedding party going up and there is a small chapel inside the statue which had a string quartet. We hope they all eventually got to the statue.

We walked around and took pictures and then waited for the ride down, A four hour tour soon turned into a 6 hour tour. It appears we were learning about Brazilian time.

There is one thing that anyone coming here cannot skip: to go on top of the Corcovado to see the statue of Christ the Redeemer and the amazing panorama of the city.
