Historical Traveler Reviews Castlerosse Hotel & Golf Resort Killarney
food to die for manager very nice view stunning staff wonderful cant wait to go back
Il cibo era buono da morire. Il direttore molto gentile. La vista spettacolare. Il personale meraviglioso. Non vedo l'ora di tornarci.
Myself and a friend stayed in the self catering cottages at the Castlerosse and were more than happy when we saw our accomodation!! We had a hugh lounge area with everything we needed including a fireplace and beautiful view, thanks to the floor to ceiling windows, of the national park. Which was also only a short walk away.
We had a lovely patio area which one of the bedrooms also opened out onto. The bedrooms were very spaceous and comfortable.
And to have a washing machine and dishwasher in the kitchen was a great suprise.
Everything to make our stay as relaxed as possible had been provided.
The staff were very efficient and friendly and all the facilities were great! We loved it and didn't want to leave, we will be back!!
One excellent holiday
Just back from a briliant holiday at the Castlerosse!
What a view from the restuarant - lakes and mountains, exactly what we came to Kerry for! We were certainly luckly with the weather and this showed off the view even more.I must say that I found the staff extremely welcoming and friendly and had no problems throughout my stay. the food in the restaurant was lovely and the "craic" in the bar very entertaining.
As for the 9 hole golf course - superb.
Will be recommending the Castlerosse to all my friends.
Certainly not a 3 star hotel in my view and not a hotel for anyone with problems walking. Some of the rooms are well over a hundred metres from the reception area. My girlfriend had torn her ankle ligaments shortly before our trip and walking around the hotel was not made easier by the fact that our room was far far away from the main areas of the hotel down a series of long corridors. (When we were leaving we actually drove our car to the emergency exit next to our room and drove to the reception area at the front of the hotel). Just really bad design.
The Castlerosse is an average family friendly place which feels a bit more like a motel than a hotel. The restaurant has fabulous views of the lakes and mountains but the food is really just canteen food. I agree with the earlier reviewer about the butter which is not the only corner cut by the hotel. Staff were courteous but not particularly friendly and overall the place lacked atmosphere. Bedrooms are a good size and nicely furnished but there is no room service and you have to ask at reception for an iron. The swimming pool is nice and a decent size, not really luxurious but nice for a swim or splash about wtih a family - no kids after 7:30. The pool isn't half as bad as suggested by an earlier reviewer. The self catering cottages are very nice and a good price - would probably return and opt for them over a hotel room.
First the food- no butter on the tables only cheap spread !- poor form for an Irish hotel. Overall the food was just average. Service was very good- we got complementary drinks after a slightly mixed up order. The rooms were good and spacious and some have great views on the lakes, golf course and mountains- ask for these if possible.
Didnt try the pool but two hard tarmac tennis courts are free to book (you can rent racquets). A bit out from town but a very nice walk into the National Park and Killarney town. ark and Killarney town.
Swimming pool nightmare
This hotel is very nice in general.however the swimming pool and added bits are an absolute disgrace in my opinion.the changing rooms were dirty and there was grit on the swimming pool floor.not very hygienic. but the views are good.
One hell of a hotel!
We have stayed twice at this hotel and nothing is too much trouble!
The views from the retaurant are too die for! So clean and friendly, there is entertainment in the bar most nights, and the swimming pool and fitness centre keeps the calories from piling on!
I had a wonderful stay in the Castlerosse Hotel last weekend with my partner. The rooms were nice and comfortable with a beautiful view of the golf course lake and mountains. The food was excellent and the staff were extremely helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice relaxing environment close to the heart of Killarney
