I have been working on our Buenos Aires trip and have found an apartment for our stay. It looks great. The location is in the middle of where we want to stay (Palermo Soho) and includes WIFI, cable, laundry, heated floors (it will be the winter when we are there) full kitchen, bedroom with queen size bed - unusual in Argentina - gym, sauna, doorman all the bells and whistles. The cost? How's ...

As promised they had a tray of raw clams and raw oysters and low and behold a plate of seared tuna with wasabi, soy ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Castle in the Sand Hotel Ocean City
Great Stay
Stayed here in June and going back the end of July. Great place to stay, convenient to everything and close to the beach. Relaxing afternoon music at outside bar and great pool. Our dryer wasn't working and a service man came up within 2 hours and took care of it. The maid service for clean towels, etc. was great. Haven't tried the restaurant yet but plan on this time. Would highly recommend this hotel.
We enjoyed our stay!!!
Spent July 4 weekend (four nights) at Castle in the Sand. This hotel has a nice central location, not ON the boardwalk but close to it. No, its not a new property, but very few are! We LOVED the olympic sized pool and DIVING BOARD! Had an oceanfront efficiency, very clean and spacious and nice view of ocean. Staff was just fine, not overly gushy (which i appreciated!) but friendly and helpful enough.
Didn't try their breakfast or dinner buffets but we absolutely loved their oceanfront bar and grille Coconuts for lunch each day!! Sat in our swimsuits, had flounder sandwiches and crabcake sandwiches, VERY good and reasonable. Fun live band played hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s and the crowd sang along! Our kids were thrilled with the place and while we might try another place the next time we would stay here again.
Dont go!
I was just there June 25-27th and it was horrible. I brought my son and my girlfriend brought her daughter. The air conditioner was apparently backed up and was soaking our rugs in the room....the smell was nasty, I had to keep my son in just a diaper because he kept sitting in it.....who wants to tell a child "Dont go over there the whole time you are on vacation....it was just not a pleasant experience....I called the front desk and they said someone will be by tomorrow to fix it....and someone did come but the air conditioner leaked the whole night.....then they brough a huge fan to dry the rugs which the kids could put their fingers in and get hurt....the rugs FINALLY were dry the day we were leaving. Besides all of that I thought the rooms were dirty and old. I will never go back there.
Rude Staff...
I traveled 6+ hours in traffic to Castle in the Sand arriving to the hotel late at night to find out that my reservations had been canceled for the weekend. The cancellation was due to an error and false information given by one of Castle in the Sands former employees. As I was trying to deal with the issue on hand, Castle in the Sands staff was very rude and difficult to work with, they were unable and unwilling to accommodate my needs. I had to switch hotels, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Very tacky!
We stayed in efficiency unit in the North building. The building itself was old and dirty. The unit we rented was also very old and out of date, the maid service was poor and the rooms and kitchen were dirty. The maid service did not run the sweeper or clean the bathrooms very well. The fold out sofa was extremely dusty. The morning buffet was a very sad sight, we ordered off of the menu. We also had a bad experience at the outdoor grill, the hamburger ordered well done came to us bloody and totally uncooked, sent it back twice and got a worse one the next time then left the restaurant without eating....ordered pizza delivered or went to other restaurants from then on. The pool could have been cleaned better and was frigid in the middle of July! I would never stay here again or recommend it to anyone!
Only if all places were like is
I could lie and tell you that the place was bad so I wouldn't have any
problems booking a reservation but that wouldn't be fair to The Castle
in the Sand. So here's my review/story.
My family stayed at The Castle in the Sand on for seven nights. I wish I could have stayed longer. The rooms are so unique and clean. The Tropical atmosphere at the pool was great. The employees were so kind to us. I have never stayed at a hotel where the customer service was so important to the people running it. This hotel is a jewel and must be seen. The beach is close and you feel very safe and comfortable there. The only problem I have is that we travel allot and we end up using The Castle in the Sand as a benchmark and it isn't fair to those other locations. They have a customer for life.
Great Rooms
Checking the internet for a weekend getaway Castle in the Sand popped up, and we said why not. It was great. We had a 2-room suite, the rooms were spacious and very clean, and right on the beach. There was a murder mystery weekend while we were there, the characters showed up while we were having breakfast, and they were doing a great job. We are already planning to go next year for the murder mystery weekend.
Comfortable and Safe
My boyfriend and I have been going to Ocean City each year since 1998 and Castle in the Sands is one of the best hotels we've stayed in. It's clean and I felt safe like being in a gated community.
Perfect for us
My family has been going to ocean city every year for the last 10 years. We have stayed in the high raise district and on the boardwalk.
Both have their advantages and disadvantages. We like the Castle compared to the rest. It is approx 1 mile walk to the beginning of the board walk on 26th st. Entertainment daily, drinks are allowed on the beach, activities for kids, the greatest pool in OC, staff are great, rooms are clean.
Clean rooms
Very clean nice rooms. Nice helpful staff. My only complaint was the elevators and corridors seemed a little run down but a great family hotel all in all.
