... narrowest road ever and we were looking for somewhere to spend the night. A quick google and site found, right on the end of the peninsula, on the beach. We finally rocked up and as we approached could see that it was a special location. Well worth the to'ing and fro'ing. "A pitch for the night please?" "Sorry we don't take dogs!" Again, bugger!

... lucky to have walked this path without a single drop of rain. On the first leg in June we had so much sunshine that we were almost wishing for a downpour to cool us down. The Indian summer this September was a real bonus. The sea was cold but the dips superb - wouldn't have missed them for the world. ... to venture out, I woke Ian. It's just the wind, he claimed (obviously he was frightened too!) In the morning we found our bin had been raided! Foxes or badgers we guess. It was a right old mess - last night the bin was emptied before we turned in. It's 9am and we are now at the bridge which spans Newport estuary by 9am and Mick is just walking down the road towards us. I have managed to get my boots on today - judging by the contours on the map I am going to need them - it's ...

... spot a seal...probably the last as we are heading towards a more inhabited part of the coastline. The vast expanse of Newport Sands is coming into view now. The tide is low so we descend to beach level, passing a building dated 1884 - the former lifeboat station - and then down onto the wet sand. We make our way towards Parrog where we meet up with Ian again. Just one more stop before we finish for the day...we all set off to explore Careg Coetan, yet another Neolithic burial ...
