Once we came back down, we were in Aspen and it was 1pm so we decided to have a late lunch. Whilst driving around to find parking, Darren glimpsed down a street and saw a bear!! I guess it's not too uncommon to have bears around but by the time we could turn around safely, it was long gone.
I have finally reached the point where I can just relax around a swimming pool. I know quite silly to arrive at this but the last six weeks have been amazingly fantastic but really intense. It is nice as well to have time with my friends in Boulder.
I will not have made it without Theo as he mentionned on FB, 40 days, 10 000 miles, 25 states and al least 12 National parks.
Aspen reminded me a bit of Banff, cute little ski/snowboard town with lots of hikes in the summer.
Unfortunately, I did not realize how high up Aspen is (2400m above sea level) and once we started our hike at Maroon Bells, I felt quite dizzy and tired. Turns out I must have had some sort of altitude sickness at 3000m above sea level... That happened on our hike in Santa Fe as well.. well, now I know :)
I recovered quickly and finished the hike at least...
... and was lead by our fearless leader Fred, he enjoyed this a lot. Jeff's horse Rusty and my Diego decided that snacking was much more important than following the leader. Unfortunately that meant that we had to catch up frequently, which I was wearing the wrong bra for. It felt much faster than it really was. ... of Buena Vista. We went to mountain shops, drug stores that had surprisingly cute shirts, and ended (or started) afternoon at a cute brewery. We then had spaghetti dinner provided by hosts and then went out for ice cream, did laundry, and saw beautiful sunset in town that's surrounded by Rockies on all 4 sides. Truly beautiful!
