... it was a big walk between some of them. At the first one Ian did not want to go on the rides but when we got to the second one we found some good stuff and went in the fun house together then went on a really funny ghost train and a big roller coaster which I did not like as I felt like it was going to go off the end of the rails. There is yet another fair in Basel right now, the Herbstmesse (Autumn Fair). It is huge! Carnival rides, food stalls, and booths selling trinkets are spread throughout the city. We went out at night to the Münsterplatz to see the action. Beforehand we visited Petersplatz to get raclette over potatoes and steaming Gluwein. Delicious! We also stopped in at the Barf ...

What an exciting day in Basel! This morning I was on the bus to a client site and ran into a friend. She showed me a picture in the newspaper of a mob of people standing outside a new electronics store. The picture was from yesterday morning. They were lined up for hours before the store opened.<br><br>Anyway it turns out that it's not just a new store; there is an entire new mall! Which is pretty exciting because Basel doesn't really have a mall and this one looks fantastic.<br ...

... and are less adventurous. So as we were standing by the exit waiting for them to drive past, I heard my mom shout "Laura!". I turned around and there they were, going deeper into the parking garage instead of towards the exit. We all laughed and I joked about how it's already begun.<br><br>Finally they drove past us out the exit and we waved goodbye. I felt a bit sad the rest of the day. It was such a great visit with my parents and a wonderful road trip through Austria!

Today was my first day in the office. Of course I was completely unproductive. It was the company's quarterly general meeting this morning which was great because I got to meet a lot of people that weren't around when I came here last September for my interview. Staff from the Geneva office were also in town so I got to meet everyone in the company. After our meeting I settled in at my new desk with my new laptop. ... and seeing as after I left the church I could see people up in the tower, I am guessing the former. Oh well. After awhile my arm was getting quite sore from carrying the heavy load of Swiss chocolate so I came back to the office where an offer was waiting for me! Yay! ... forgot to tighten the cap. Ok immediately into downwind, gear down and landing again in this challenging conditions. The oil cap was not tight. Good, at least not aproblem with the engine. ... wheels broke off! As usual the anxious, nervous laughing was our first reaction but while Belinda was reeling in shock I had to assess the damage and decide what to do. We ended up doing a bag swap, I carried Belinda's overweight bag while she rolled my "light as a feather" case around the station. Luckily I was able to roll the case along awkwardly on its 3 remaining wheels, very concious of the fact that it could lose more wheels and that I looked like a **** leaning over ...
