... that we did not hit any speeds anywhere near 300kph. We sat at a table with a businessman-communications-consultant. His English was excellent and we had a very good conversation for the last hour of the trip to Basel.

... river had a pulley wheel attached to it which leads to the ferry bow on one side. So the operator used their river at full control of the crossing, they could quicken or slow to a standstill by rudder control. Amazingly simple and highly effective.

... backpacks so we were stuck with them for the next few hours. As we had previously realized when day tripping along the southern coast of Italy, exploring with backpacks in tow isn't much fun. Sure enough the afternoon passed before we knew it and we were back on the train headed into Spain.

Between our extremely short time in Switzerland, our hibernation break in Lyon and our culinary time-out in Montpellier, we don't have many photos to share for this entry. More to come in ...
