Listos!

Palma, Majorca. Spain is a beautiful country and each city we visit captures our attention for its individual charm and character. Once again the town is set in front of rugged mountain ranges that provide an interesting landscape. Pulled in opposite us at the port is the Carnival Breeze, which dwarfs our Seabourn Pride with its 3,600 hundred passengers. We board our shuttle bus for a short ride to town at 10.30 and walk constantly until our return at 2.30, feet aching and ...

... the exception of the last 24 hours, cruising has been relaxing and fun. This ship and their crew have been fabulous too, nothing has been too much trouble and especially when we were robbed, they have been super-helpful. We are going to find it hard to go back to having to get our own meals organized every day! We have met some fabulous people on board and hope to stay in ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Castillo Hotel Son Vida, a Luxury Collection Hotel Palma

    A week of magic

    from Rog28

My wife and I have just returned from a week at Castillo Son Vida, what a great week, we

    could not really fault it.

We were greeted on our arrival by a porter in full regional attire, were shown to our rooms

by another assistant in similar attire, and as we entered our room, greeted by a maid who

made a special effort to come out of her office to see who had arrived.

This was how the week continued, with every effort by all staff to ensure our holiday was

    one to remember.

About 15 minutes taxi ride out of Palma centre (9 - 13 euros depending upon the traffic lights!).

A car recommended if you want to visit the island, but if its a relaxing week your after, a taxi to get you into Palma to sample the night life and visit the many restaurants would be sufficient.

Golf is good, we played twice on the Son Vida course, taxing for all handicaps, but a thinking mans course. Fairways and greens in first class conditions, but tees looking a little

    ragged.

Pool big enough, so as not to feel hemmed in. Two towels brought to you as soon as you enter the area, and periodically complimentary free drinks brought to cool you down.

Our room was big, with a lovely large bed.

Bathroom of a very high quality, towels changed once a day, which we thought would be twice a day considering the quality of the hotel.

Fresh fruit provided daily, apples oranges grapes bananas ect.

One of the nicest hotels we have stayed in and we have visited many 5 star hotels around europe the middle east and far east.

Excellent service, best value for money

    from anonymous

I stayed with my husband from 31/5/2006 till 07/06/2006.

We are more than pleased from the services and the kindness of the stuff.

We would certanly prefer Castillo Son Vida for our next visit to Mallorca!!

    Fabulous!

    from bertie

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at this fantastic hotel. After reading the reviews on Tripadvisor we were keen to try it out, but didn't really have great expectations as we had not heard of the hotel before.

However, from the beginning to the end we were delighted with the whole experience. We were met at the airport by the hotel car (Rolls Royce!) which really did set the scene for a special few days. We had a great deluxe room. However, we didn't have a balcony, so I would check this out before going if a balcony is important to you. The facilities in the room were great with comfortable beds, pillows and duvets and spotlessly clean. The hotel is also close to some excellent golf courses.

All the staff were efficient and pleasant and we certainly can't wait to go back again.

To sum up - a fab hotel with 5 star facilities but not the pretentious atmosphere of some other 5 star hotels!! Thank you Tripadvisor!!!

    Absolutely perfect

    from PICKYTRAVELER27

Do not hesitate, just go. One of the finest hotels I have EVER stayed in. Beautifully refinished down to the last detail. I knew it was my style when they picked us up from the airport in a Bentley. We had a butler but didn't even need him because the service is IMPECCABLE. Beautiful view from our room over the patio, Palma and the ocean. The food was great (I'm not a fan of European food, but this was above average). Loved the pool service, concierge is the best, my husband loved the cigar bar. Had a good laugh in the unisex sauna/turkish baths...you'll see.

Palma is a cute little town with ok shops and an old quarter with a beautiful cathedral. La Llonja is fun for a night on the town. I would go back (and will) in a heartbeat.

I cannot say enough good things about this place!

    Beautiful, Gorgeous, Exquisite

    from anonymous

We have just arrived back from our stay at the Castillo. We arrived on 14th February 2006, the Opening Day after the Hotel had been closed a year for full refurbishment. It was utter chaos, the Hotel is'nt really finished yet and first impressions were we want to leave, however I'm glad we did'nt. The refurbishment is magnificent, our room was absolutely beautiful, total luxury with a view towards Palma and the Sea. But the very best thing of all was the "staff", they were wonderful every single one of them, so pleasant, enthusiatic, just great and we feel so privileged to have been part of this Opening. Not everything went quite right on the day, but after all we are all human and some things are out of our control, but when we did find a problem they addressed it and dealt with it as soon as they could they were so apologetic, it was a learning curve for all of us but we felt as if we belonged - almost like a large family. The next day my husband and I both had a massage with aromatherapy oils "fantastic" in the lovely peaceful Spa - do try this when you go, you won't be disappointed. We know this Hotel and the staff will get it right very shortly no doubt about it - "teething problems - thats all" and we can't wait to go back, I only hope they will have room for us. I would have included some photos but unfortunately for us our car was broken into at the Carrefore Supermarket by the Airport on the way to the Hotel and we lost every piece of luggage - beware I believe there are "gangs" targetting the Car Parks

    Wonderful hotel!

    from anonymous

We had the pleasure of staying at this hotel on our honeymoon in June 2004. The staff and the hotel was great. The rooms are well kept and large - ours was a double which had a separate sitting room. Great views from the outdoor patio as the hotel is set in the hills. This hotel is an absolute must if you have the chance to visit Mallorca-- which is a wonderful island. My husband and I generally stay at better quality (4-5 star ) hotels, and some really don't deserve their rating, but this one honestly does. There is no other place I'd consider staying if we go back!

Won't want to leave the hotel

    from anonymous

We spent a weekend here a couple of years ago. It's expansive and tranquil and the rooms are deliciously old-fashioned in a Sean Connery James Bond sort of way. It's about a 20-minute drive to the center of Palma. Two pools, an enormous terrace with chaises and views of Palma and the sea, will make you regret leaving the place at all. Expensive, but the mood is relaxed and the place is big enough that you don't feel intruded upon by other guests. Good for people wanting privacy and to get away from it all in a natural setting. Golf nearby.

We spend a week there and was satisfied with almost everything. The service was perfect at the frontdesk, the special taxi taking us to and from the airport, the cleaningwomen, the food and service in the restaurant "Il Jardin". the service at the grand buffet every morning. The only complaint we have is that the restaurant serving in the evening (Bellver) is not living up to the standard of the rest. The food (the only evening we spent there -5 people) was not up to standard and the buffet neither.

    Excellent

    from anonymous

The hotel was pure luxury that we did not want to leave the hotel to visit the Island.

    Paradise in Palma

    from anonymous

We went to this hotel in July for a family wedding...it was magic. The hotel was excellent with the views from the Terrace magnificent. The choice of food and drinks was excellent with a wonderful buffet breakfast every morning. It was too hot to play gold but we will return when thw weather is cooller. The staff were very friendly and very good with children and "oldies" alike. Definitely a must visit Mike Ward
