My last two days in Tenerife

A travel blog entry by btfreder on Jun 21, 2014

This is it. I'm sitting in my residencia now on the final night of my time here in Tenerife. I cannot believe I've been here for five weeks and that I won't be going to the hospital on Monday...it feels like I've started a new life here and now I'm throwing away something I got so used to! Either way, I'm excited for what the rest of my summer, year and life hold, so though I'm sad to leave, I'm also happy to go.

These last two days have been absolutely amazing! It was ...

I've really enjoyed going to this seminar, even though it's only once a week and rarely lasts an entire hour, because the topics we discuss are interesting and offer a new perspective on how to become a doctor in the modern medical system. As much as I want to go home to see my girlfriend, family and dogs, I can't help but loathe the idea of leaving this place. As I've said in other posts, it's such a mystical, charming island with an atmosphere that keeps you wanting more. Every day is a new adventure, and I'm addicted to that. The good news is that as soon as I get back, I'll be keeping myself busy with class and MCAT studying, so I won't ...

... the hottest, the longest and the hilliest, none of them were easy. And after all that hard work I was finally going to get an easy ride; back down the mountain. For over an hour I didn't have to pedal once, with twist and turns and speeds up to 40mph I had a great time, though I think the brakes may need replacing as I was clinching them the whole way down. The descent was so fast that my ears were popping constantly as I dropped over a thousand feet every ...

The need to leave the cold winds and wet weather in London saw me flying off to one of the smaller islands in the Canary Islands, Isla de La Palma. With an optimistic weather forecast of 24 degrees I was feeling very excited about my trip and I could not wait to touch down on this balmy island.

Our descent into La Palma Aeropuerto was a bit of a 'heart in throat' experience and for the first time I was a little concerned while flying. Having looked out the window I ...
