Portugal!

Feeling like a couple of drowned rats since having set ashore on the Continent, we felt it time to head south to Portugal with all haste. Having awoken to another damp morning, in Luarca, we quickly packed up and hit the road. Several hours later, and we found ourselves in Portugal, pitching our tent (the first time since leaving GB) on a pretty much deserted site (save for all ...

RAIN at Parque Nacional da Pendeda Geres

... without the normal care and as we were going along we suddenly realized that the caravan had become detached. Fortunately the breakaway cable had worked. We reversed and reattached her, no harm having been done. We then had to do a 50 mile detour to get to the camp site. We spoke to other camper and caravaners who had had great ...

Day 7: Rain, rain go away

After a night of heavy rain in which there was occasionally a raindrop heavy enough to splash the condensation on the inside of the tent on us, it stopped raining. We woke up, showered, got ready for a great hike, got our backpacks ready, and headed to the top of hill out of our campsite. Once at the top, it thundered. Then Kevin realized he forgot his sunglasses. We headed back to the car for the sunglasses and as the clouds looked really threatening, decided to wait for ...

Days 6: Off the unbeaten track

... were equally bad.  We finally found it just after 10 and reception was closed.  Luckily, the nightwatchman let us in and pick any pitch we wanted that was open.  We could barely see the signs so found a spot between two camper vans.  I patched up the tent with velcro and then we set up the tent for the night.  We decided not to eat as it was so late and we couldn't see a thing anyway.  Once we were set up we went to find water and realized we set the tent up in the wrong ...

Four rivers and another cod

... amazing to see that these houses were just ordinary homes for ordinary people. In Leeds, Liverpool or London these would be a developers dream, converted to flats selling for a small fortune. The main town above these was very pleasant indeed, with many narrow and picturesque streets between modern thoroughfares, delightful old houses and majestic palaces. The Cathedral at the very top could have been a great visit, but ...

Drying out in Braga

... exploring Braga a bit and doing some research for Spain. Braga is a very pretty little town a nice place to stroll around, although its a shame about the massive mcdonalds right in the middle of the centre square. Tommorow we leave to go back to Lisbon for two nights before flying to madrid on Monday. Hope you are all well, please keep the messages coming. Lots of Love xxxx

Oporto

... shrimp for dinner. There were probably 20 floors worth of stairs from the river to our hotel. We all made it an early night as to avoid the children in the street. The next day we took a tour of the city. We ate dinner in an all glass restaurant, then went back to our apartment and had strawberries and wine. This is where I developed my taste for wine. I actually like it now.
