... across the vineyards to Barbaresco and further. We had a few great rides around the area - but like most rides in Italy it always ends up being harder and longer than you expect. Cheese was a hoot and we made two visits. The first a short exploration by bike and the second an afternoon and evening affair where we took in a couple of the tasting workshops. ... owner was a very friendly guy who sat with us for some time. He was a wonderful ambassador for his country and loved practicing his English on us. The feeling was mutual. We continued on to our Hotel Giardi Resort in the town of Imperia. It turned out to have a fabulous view of the coast, the autostrada and the surrounding hillside villages but had probably seen better days. Busy day today. Lunch at a friend's house in Asti and dinner with the son of Annalia's mother's best friend. Complicated I know. Taking a train to Asti. ... a type of profiterole with their fruit salad I had semifreddo (yum). A long lunch in a courtyard in Piedmont is not a bad way to spend an afternoon. We weaved our way back to catch the bus back to Asti. Pity the passengers who had to share the bus with our rowdy mob. There are cars with horns blaring and shouting in the street - Juventus drew with Madrid so they are in the Champions League final. Happy Italian football fans ...
