The first few days back in Elounda were an opportunity to relax, and on Thursday we spent the day by the beach, Friday by the pool. Friday evening we jumped on the bus to Agios Nikolaos to meet Laura and her girlfriend for drinks, dinner and then some more drinks and was our only late night 'party night' of the whole three weeks. Afraid of the boredom setting in we arranged to hire a car for Sunday and Monday and booked a nights accommodation on Sunday on the ...

We were welcomed to our Olympos accommodation as members of the family and almost begged to return next year: "we build this place for people like you, not. Just any people, special people". Flying on a forty seat twin engine pray to Zeus airlines, but the good news is that even though the bus does not go to the airport that we need to be at 65km away by 10am, apparently if we speak to the bus driver, he will just drive it there "this is Greece, it doesn't matter here", and one begins to love them a little more but also understand why the highly structured Germans might ...

... the interesting parts and the stories. So it was nice to go there but not mind blowing. I think we're all a little jaded from the barrage of cultural sights we've experienced in the last week or so. Probably the best thing was hearing from Lena about day to day life on Crete. How married couples are given houses by their parents, what age they marry, pregnancy out of wedlock is a precious baby and many Cretian brides walk down the aisle in their white dress ...

    Arrival

... there is on the complex of 36, so we will be spoilt once more - and the coins will have a more critical impact. We are venturing to Spinalonga tomorrow, we can see the island former leper colony from the apartment and spent breakfast watching the boats heading over, so as impatient as we are we're off there tomorrow. It was either that or the Samarias Gorge but Keith is worried we might break our legs and so it's better to do that in week three rather than week ...
