Santa Cruz, Bolivia karrina... together since Rio and Buenos Aires and we're the newies to the group, but they are all making a good effort to get to know us and tell us about their past adventures in South America. Our tour guide is Roland who is from Cusco, he is a really nice guy who is very keen to teach us all about the areas we are travelling and the local cultures.

So we spent a bit of the day walking around, but then found that altitude sickness is very ...
La Paz, Bolivia thenahms... However, not feeling so great the next morning, I decided to recover on a marathon bus ride to Santa Cruz, Bolivia's largest city. I managed to get loads of sleep, which is unusual and the time went fairly quickly. This was largely thanks to choosing one average bus for when I was most tired and one super-duper mega-comfy affairs for the nighttime leg of the journey. Brilliant.

I only spent one day in Santa Cruz and was surprised. It feels much more like a capital city than La ...
La Paz, Bolivia lisa.gillespie... in National Geaographic twice! It broke the bank a bit but has been heavily recommended. We also plan to do a boat trip into the swamps before heading back to La Paz and biking down the Death Road!!! The only hitch is we are taking a military plane into the jungle and are landing on a grass runway! This may be impossible in the rain so hopefully the flight doesn´t get canceled. The only other option is a painful 18hr bus ride that I am hoping to avoid.
La Paz, , Bolivia grahamyoung... a British couple and their guide who actually skipped 2 of the passes for a more roundabout way to the 3rd days camp. Our gear was taken off early that day by Mario who was supposed to porter our gear to his motorcycle and drive it around to our camp. When we rounded our last hill next to an abandoned mining settlement overlooking the valley, we saw Mario whizzing by on his moto with tons of gear strapped to the back. It was hilarious ...
Milluni, La Paz, Bolivia destin8ionI had crossed the river, from Brejemo, Bolivia, on a little boat in order to catch the bus to BsAs Argentina. I went thru an easy migracion for Bolivia to get stamped out, but, getting stamped into Argentina is a different story. IF you only have a carry on, there is a short line to go thru control (where they check your bags for contraband), otherwise, there can be a ...
Aguas Blancas, Northern Argentina, Argentina jathomazI took a van (collectivo- a cab with other passengerts to the same destination, more or less) south to Bremejo, one of the border xings with Argentina. I had wanted to make a quick trip to BsAs to collect my computer. I would not include this entry, except to show you the crossing here. The collectivo from Tarija stopped at the bus station here, but to buy the bus ticket to BsAs, I had to pay ...

Oran, Argentina doscompletosWe were ready to do some hiking again when we arrived in Iruya, a small village in the mountains. The scenery surrounding Iruya was amazing. Iruya used to mainly rely on sustenance farming but now many families draw most of their income from tourism. From Iruya, we hiked to another small village that is only ...
