Munich and Salzburg. We have travelled to Munich and Salzberg (Austria) the last two days.
Also Mozart's birthplace and home to Herbert von Karajan. Austria is where coffee and croissants both started in Europe. The Turks/Ottomans/Muslims occupied the country at some time and when they left they left behind the coffee beans. The person in charge didn't like the smell of the roasting coffee beans so he banished the roasting to a …
Same start times and same lovely weather...21C. No rain for several days and starting to feel more like summer. Breakfast here not as good and I think the tour guide is not that happy with this hotel. Certainly if it was really hot (and apparently it was a couple of weeks ago) it would be pretty uncomfortable. Still for us it was lovely and quaint …
Had a pretty good sleep but we had an early start again today as we head off to Austria. We set off at 7.30 & were in Liechtenstein about 8.30, we had a toilet break here. You can have your passport stamped for 1 Euro so I did. I bought some postcards, a couple of coin purses, some country cloth badges & a book mark.

See the Golden Roof and Imperial Palace in the old town before following the Inn Valley, past the Wild Kaiser mountain range to Salzburg, setting for the film, The Sound of Music. Historical Traveler Reviews Castellani Parkhotel Salzburg
Great hotel in a great city!
We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in November, and got a very good deal on an internet special. The hotel is immaculate throughout, the rooms are quite spacious and clean. The location is very good, only about a 5 minute walk to the old town, and also bus stops just out the front to get to the train station. The buffet breakfast was excellent, as were the staff and their service. I highly recommend this hotel.
We stayed 4 nights till New Year's Eve 2004/2005. Very nice hotel, modern and pleasant. Many guests our age (30s) which was nice. Great breakfast buffet with something for everyone and very fresh. Service was very friendly but always in a rush. Room service was good but twice our room wasn't cleaned when we returned in the afternoon for a nap. Our room was very good, large and very well furnished.
Best Western Castellani Parkhotel
We stayed at the Best Western Castellani ParkHotel. It was about a five minute walk to the downtown area. The hotel was modern, clean, and had the best buffet breakfast (included in the room price) that I can remember having. The hotel has a surface parking. Very enjoyable stay.
