Great hotel in a great city!

      from

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in November, and got a very good deal on an internet special. The hotel is immaculate throughout, the rooms are quite spacious and clean. The location is very good, only about a 5 minute walk to the old town, and also bus stops just out the front to get to the train station. The buffet breakfast was excellent, as were the staff and their service. I highly recommend this hotel.

      Modern Classic

      from

We stayed 4 nights till New Year's Eve 2004/2005. Very nice hotel, modern and pleasant. Many guests our age (30s) which was nice. Great breakfast buffet with something for everyone and very fresh. Service was very friendly but always in a rush. Room service was good but twice our room wasn't cleaned when we returned in the afternoon for a nap. Our room was very good, large and very well furnished.

A pity was the 20-minute-long walk to the old town and the main points of interest along a busy four-lane road. After trying this once we preferred taking the bus (bus stop 5 minutes from hotel) that was going every five minutes during the day and every 20 minutes after 7 PM. Two excellent (and pricey) restaurants in the hotel, we tried the Austrian nouvelle cuisine which was outstanding at any rate! I was missing a sauna (steam bath had to be turned on upon request and you had to change there which was inconvenient to me) and public internet access.

I would go there again although I would prefer to stay at a more central location.

      Best Western Castellani Parkhotel

      from

We stayed at the Best Western Castellani ParkHotel. It was about a five minute walk to the downtown area. The hotel was modern, clean, and had the best buffet breakfast (included in the room price) that I can remember having. The hotel has a surface parking. Very enjoyable stay.

Easter Monday- on the train to Salzburg -6th April

... to see on our journey. When we were about a 1/2 hour out of Salzburg we were hit by a snow storm. I was not able to get photos on my IPAD but I was able to get some good pictures on the camera. When we arrived at Salzburg we had some pretty simple instructions on how to get to our accommodation. Thankfully the storm had stopped at this time but we still manage ...

... and then went to bed. At 2pm I went and asked the concierge about the best way to get to the Szechenyl baths. I explained that we had purchased tickets on board the boat and that Narelle would not be able to go. The concierge contacted the baths and was able to secure a refund for Narelle. The hotel also prepared a spa kit containing a towel, slippers, water and shampoo in a back pack. I have been ...

... down a steep mountain and then we saw the Church where Maria and the Captain got married! After, we walked around the old town which has really narrow streets and lots of beautiful buildings. Tomorrow we plan to go to the fortress which is up on a big mountain looking over the city. After that we'll be off to Vienna! I can't wait to see everything and I'm hoping to be able to keep updating this and maybe upload some pictures I hope all is going well at ...
