Today Matteo & Caterina drove us to Milan for the day. We parked in the suburbs and caught the Metro in to the centre. The first stop was via Monte Napoleane where all of the big fashion houses have their flagship stores. They all have security inside the closed doors, and only allow people in if they are serious shoppers and can afford the exorbitant prices. Window shopping was all we could manage. We walked on into ...

... girls and we all head down again. After walking about 50 metres down he looks up and can see the castle walls about 50 metres away. We are so close and all, that extra uphill was not needed. We continue down looking for the turnoff to the castle. We reach the main road without finding any road that goes that way. Seems odd. Then we read the sign again to discover to our horror that the sign says the castle is not open to the public ( in Italian ). So ...

We drove to Bellagio and then took the ferry to Varrena with the intention of eating lunch then travelling on to Piona to see an abbey. Just opposite the parking station was the Villa Monastera which has a beautiful botanic garden. We decided to look around the garden. They were lovely with an amazing array of plants from all over the world and the unexpected bonus was that the Villa was open for viewing. In the literature that Roger had seen the villa was only open for ...

Roger headed off early for a ride. We did some washing and hung it on our tiny little line. Having trouble with the internet in the apartment so that is why we re behind with the blog - sorry. Still not fixed so we have been typing it up in the hope we will be able to connect soon. Roger gets back about 10:30 and we have decided that the boys will catch the cable car from Argengo (which is just across the lake from Nesso) up to what we think is a ski village in winter. We trudge along ...

Did some long awaited clothes washing this morning before heading off to explore the local region which is in the Marche region about 2 hours south of Belogna and about 3 hours from both Rome and Florence. First stop was the town of Fossombrone for a nice lunch in a local restaurant food was excellent and the town very quaint, with its narrow streets and old buildings. Then travelled to a very historic ...
