          ... that resistance is useless....He even muttered " You had better buy one, I'm not driving all that way for nothing"
          What a wonderful husband I have , I don't know too many that would drive on a two day , 9 hour round trip so that his wife could look for handbags. I am a very lucky lady !!

          So, Arriverderci Panicale , Buongiorno Petritoli ..............off we went.

          ... around. Perhaps they are waiting for the right wind. After we have returned to the village many of them have taken off. The views along the track are magnificent. Wow!           ... tornanti, but the steepness is less savage - a bit like the climb from Yarra Glen. Finally we emerge from the forest and after a few kms of more gentle climbing, breast the Passo Di Gualdo (1600m) with a view across the Pian Perduto (Lost Plain) towards the hilltop village of Castellucio with the Pian grande behind.           ... our cheese and ham rolls foraged from the hotel breakfast. Then we cross the road for a coffee. Under the verandah a young couple are cooing over over a brand new infant. As we ride on the monumental limestone cliffs are becoming ever closer until we enter the Gole della Valnerina (gorge).
