At 6:30pm we were all meeting on the terrace for a glass of wine, we had been so busy all week that we had yet to make it out here. We all arrived carrying a bottle of wine and I brought the "weekend Waterford" ...

For the first night, we didn't meet up in the black chimney room after dinner, everyone was exhausted. The early morning wake ups were taking their toll. Just as well, some man was in our room reading the newspaper, he could have the room tonight, but tomorrow night we wanted our room back!!
... began making tagliolini. I had seen a photo on the brochure of a class making a long strand of pasta & asked Chef Fillipo if we could do that, he was such a good sport & helped us. He kept adding the pasta to the machine & making it longer by the second, soon we were rushing around trying to get enough hands to keep the pasta from touching the floor & we did it!!

Ed & I stopped to look at some handmade walking sticks that a resident had displayed at their front door & were for sale. He opened his front door & was talking to us in Italian, I really did want to buy one, but had no way to get it on the plane. ... that the Lentils were from a nearby town called Castelluccio. I had no idea that lentils came from a region.
We started with the banana bread and when these were put into the oven, we got busy with knife skills chopping up the carrots, celery & onions for the soup. The garlic was thrown into the pot of boiling water whole. We gathered in the kitchen to watch Chef Fillipo work his wonders with the lentils & homemade stock.
