Dominica The Nature Island - Travelogue Ian R Clayton, September 30 2009 A visit to Dominica is like a step back in Time. The island has not changed much in 50 years, there are more hotels, boutique accommodation and of course Johnny Depp and the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean have all been there ...
Dominica, Dominica irclay... Was thinking about having sex when you really love somebody. I haven't done that in 14 years. Makes me sad. But I remember how beautiful it was, having the person be inside you in everyway and as close as two people can be physically, and just looking into each other's eyes. Back to abstinant reality. And people not meeting my somewhat mild expectations. In other news, my eyebrows are almost back to their original splendor. So I ...
San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dominica pirates_booty... I'll get int SJU tonight at 8. Get my bag (hopefully) and then find a motel room. Tomorrow I need to find a proper present for Devon's birthday. I'm on a flight that makes you have to stop at Antigua and Tortola, so I assume by the time i get in at 8, i'll be tired. Not to mention hungry. Other than that, all is well. Not sure what this trip will ultimately mean to me.
Dominica, Dominica pirates_booty... this could never be corroborated). Also have weird collections of bumps. Haven't been burstin them but maybe I should. Just keeps spreading like poison ivy but it's not. Today I am shopping in Roseau. Feel very strange and shaky. Maybe this 2nd cup of coffee. Was so tired last night that I went to bed at 7:30 and slept solid till 3 am. This house is much more dry than the jungle. Some of my clothes actually dried. I ...
Dominica, Dominica pirates_booty... it's incredibly worth it! I recommend renting one of the lifejackets or noodles if you're not a strong swimmer, as the current can be strong. However, it's not a long swim to the end. The waterfall at the end of the gorge is breathtaking...We're shooting ourselves every day, since no one brought their water cameras...but that scene will stay with us.
Afterwards we had the choice of going to Trafalgar falls or ...
... guide on an approximately 20 minute trek on rustic paths, negotiating many steep steps, to the Emerald Pool which is formed by delicate waterfall cascading over a fern-covered cliff. Well, let me tell you that the name is quite suited for the falls. It has this deep rich greeny colour which is a reflection of all of the tropical foliage and ferns around it. It was extremely outstanding. People were swimming in the ...
Dominica, Dominica momentsintime... We all got to participate in cooking lunch, Dad helped with the Rice and beans, the Plantains, and he looked at the fish. Kathy helped with the fish, and the plantains. I help with the Fish, and the plantains. We also got to see green oranges! They were yummy too. Liz told us how to make coconut milk, the clear liquid that comes out when you open a coconut is the water, you have to do stuff to make the milk. Oh, yeah...Dad is catching ...
Roseau, Dominica travelin_kat... thing that I have ever seen in my life! We got into the water (very cold at first, but you get used to it) and swim inside the caves. You can see in the image above - this is the entrance to the caves.
If you look up, you can just see through some openings in the top of the rocks with some trees and plant-life.
You swim along a little further, only for a minute or so, and scale along a rocky wall to see the ...
Roseau, Dominica mcdessureault... It was nice and warm, especially after all the rain we had. We took a few pics, relaxed a little bit and we left. Walking to see something is ok, but the way back, when you have nothing at the end but your bed... it is horrible. At least we did a short break in a small sulfur pond, where the water was hot. Nice for the muscles! Desolation valley is beautiful, even with the smell of rotten eggs. Some water all around us was boiling ...
