... the lunch hour began. The builders came in in hordes. Seated, supplied with bread and wine followed by pasta and then time to get back to work. We moved on and later found a great pizza place. Pizzas are good here (unlike Rome). We then followed Fabio's advice and caught the ferry into Como. We spent the afternoon walking about the main part of the city - lovely old buildings, huge Duomo (surprise!!), partially unfinished waterfront, shops ...

... On the way, we stopped and got some strawberry chocolate fondue because it was the Chocolate Festival that weekend in Bergamo. ... of ham and two of salami, two kinds of pasta-pappardelle with pesto and porcini risotto, a selection of soft cheeses followed by a selection of hard cheeses and ending with biscotti, sorbet and expresso. Each course is accompanied by a different wine selected by the sommelier and served by at least three people along with lots of fanfare. I hate to think of the cholesterol, but the food was wonderful going down and I am sure that we will never eat this way ...
