... to Rhonda and her advice, we also visited St Nicholas Abbey, which was lovely…..and in the evening treated ourselves to dinner at The FishPot (excellent) after lunch at Nanika (no wonder we piled on the pounds this holiday)!
All in all, a most relaxing and enjoyable end to our Caribbean adventure…..the R&R necessary to ensure a calm approach to our 44 hour journey back here to Surabaya!
... his hardest to get me on a plane, however my not acting fast enough led to a very good ticket for $500US slipping away. So I pulled some strings, and I'm now going to Toronto direct on Wednesday I'm bummed out like mad that I can't go to NYC and possibly not even Detroit, but I guess it just happens sometimes. Next time I guess.. But at least now I can go to Canada! Wednesday can't come fast enough.
Rockley, Barbados kilgiraffeThis is my third day trying to get out of the island on standby. I was 38/47 on the list earlier. So many families of staff members using their tickets for holiday.. It's insanity. It seems to be impossible to get out of the Caribbean right now! Hopefully I'll figure out something soon, otherwise I may have to cancel parts of my itinerary.. :(
Rockley, Barbados kilgiraffe... 10. The Dive Shop is a shack set up on Pebbles Beach overlooking Carlisle Bay filled to the brim with tanks and fins and not much else because there's no room for anything else. We went out with a fairly large group of divers, but there were three divemasters, so we ended up, on the first dive with just me and Travis and an annoying Brit who insisted on smoking on the boat.
Luckily the boat ride was short out to our first dive site, Friar's ...
... the church that dated almost five hundred years ago. It was kind of creepy walking all around them, but this is what made the whole place intriguing and captivating.
We stopped for while along the ocean to admire big huge boulders right on the shore. It was absolutey beautiful seeing them.
Our next stop was at the Highland Adventure Center where we sipped a complimentary soft drink. It was relaxing and we enjoyed the view once ...
... is so beautiful. I just couldn't believe my surroundings. At the bottom of the ocean, the corals were spectacular. Words cannot describe beauty. You have to see it to believe it. What a fantastic experience that I am not about to forget soon.
After the snorkel off we went to another beach where we relaxed and swammed for a while before returning to the ship.
Thankful for snorkeling,

... the water the next day and the participant ALWAYS had the option of opting out up to the splash down! She did (take the lessons). She didn't opt out (although, dropping backwards into the water off of the side of the boat was not the way she envisioned getting into the brine and descending to depths before never considered let alone done! AND, all one needs to do is take a look at the instructor and it will be well understood why Ingrid did not chicken out. Would ...
Bridgetown, Barbados gwaymar... After trying for 20 minutes to connect - voila; we got in! But because the building is made of solid concrete and sandstone, we can only get a clear signal from a little corner of the patio. So there we were, hunched over the laptop checking email. Once our "Honorary Globetrotters" finally arose and got dressed, we all headed downstairs to The Fish Pot Restaurant for breakfast, which is served each morning from 8:30 to 10 a.m. As long as ...
Speightstown, Barbados globetrotters... week to practice for the competition. the most interesting part of it all is that each block has to come up with it's own funds to pay for all of the activities, ie, the t-shirt, props for the talent show, the food for the culinary competition, etc. most blocks hold bake sales or have candygrams or raffles or things like that to get the money. however, block 10's traditional fund-raising event is an auction in which the men of the block are made available for purchase. i was ...
Bridgetown, Barbados bdaly334... I was soon kicked out as I moved the Aussie score onto 1000. That night we went to an area called Oistins with about 20 guys from the party stand. It is a fish market where they have fish stalls and a huge outdoor dance party. Music pumps and the locals move and groove to reggae/R and B/ doof doof all rolled into one. A word on the local women- they are beautiful but as Sir Mixalot put it- "Baby Got Back" They got huge butts which they like to ...
