... people gyrated (I suppose it was dancing?) in colourful costumes – or rather accessories! All to celebrate the end of the sugar cane harvest and the success of the rum production!

On one day we hired a car and explored the island – marvelling at the ferocious seas of the Atlantic at Animal Flower caves and Bathsheba compared to our gently lapping, clear, warm, blue waters on the west coast ...
Holetown, Saint James, Barbados thedunckleys... going to Cuba and making a raft - anything to just get onto American soil. People were fighting to get whatever ticket they could. I was trying to avoid doing that but left it a little too late. So if I was going to be buying a ticket to get anywhere next week I may as well go to Canada, as that part of my itinerary is set whereas nothing was booked for the US. The nice guy at the AC desk ...
Rockley, Barbados kilgiraffeThis is my third day trying to get out of the island on standby. I was 38/47 on the list earlier. So many families of staff members using their tickets for holiday.. It's insanity. It seems to be impossible to get out of the Caribbean right now! Hopefully I'll figure out something soon, otherwise I may have to cancel parts of my itinerary.. :(
Rockley, Barbados kilgiraffe... 10. The Dive Shop is a shack set up on Pebbles Beach overlooking Carlisle Bay filled to the brim with tanks and fins and not much else because there's no room for anything else. We went out with a fairly large group of divers, but there were three divemasters, so we ended up, on the first dive with just me and Travis and an annoying Brit who insisted on smoking on the boat.

Luckily the boat ride was short out to our first dive site, Friar's ...
Speightstown, Barbados dyer0930Dear Blog,

As much as I enjoyed this morning's excursion, this afternoon, I am off to a coast to coast scenic drive of Barbados. I opted for this excursion because I wanted to take in as much as possible of the island's highlights.

After we boarded our air-conditioned mini bus, off we went through the center of Bridgetown. We saw sights such as Heroes Square and the Houses of Parliament. We then drove by the Lion at Gun Hill Signal ...
Barbados, Barbados momentsintime... br>
After being given a safety briefing and snorkel lesson by the guide, everyone on the boat entered the water to swim among the turtles. Mi did not take any time. Off he went in the water, as for myself, well, I was a little bit hesitant. I went in the last one. The water was pure crystalline and warm as I slowly made my way in.

Adrenaline started to take effect as I spotted underneath me four ...
Barbados, Barbados momentsintime... miss much at this port of call. Our flight home was on US Air, coach all the way, to Charlotte. We then took a puddle jumper to Lynchburg. We arrived in Lynchburg at midnight, and all the rental car agencies were closed, so Bob & Susan picked us up at the airport, took me to the hospital to spend the night with Mother, and took John to the Super 8 (highly recommended by B&S).
Bridgetown, Barbados cynjohn... After trying for 20 minutes to connect - voila; we got in! But because the building is made of solid concrete and sandstone, we can only get a clear signal from a little corner of the patio. So there we were, hunched over the laptop checking email. Once our "Honorary Globetrotters" finally arose and got dressed, we all headed downstairs to The Fish Pot Restaurant for breakfast, which is served each morning from 8:30 to 10 a.m. As long as ...
Speightstown, Barbados globetrotters... thing that was bad about that trip was that we saw a bushwhacker: a man who sits in the bushes right on the beach and masturbates while he looks at all the women. apparently they are common in barbados, and we hadn't actually seen one before, just been warned. the man was relatively obscured by the bushes but we could definitely tell that he wasn't just sitting there. elise obviously thought it was disgusting, as do i, but since the guy probably wasn't thinking of me while ...
Bridgetown, Barbados bdaly334... charge us much. Around the ground was amazing, people everywhere, lots of Aussie flags, locals selling different foods, people banging drums. We got tickets to the unreserved section of the ground for $50 each and went inside. The section was basically like sitting on a concrete floor. Very uncomfortable. Apart from about 10 aussies everyone else was a local and the atmosphere was unbelievable. People jammed in everywhere, bringing in eskies ...
