Only two more nights until we leave for our trip! Jessica and I are frantically finishing our packing and preparing to meet in London on Sunday before heading to the airport in Toronto. This morning I decided to bike to the bank in Barrie to pick up some AUD and NZD to have some cash on hand when we arrive on the other side of the world. I quickly learned that you must order money in advance! So, it looks like I will be picking some up at an airport along the way - and the adventure begins!!

Along Lake Simcoe our train ran perpendicular to a calm canal - we looked straight out a tree lined waterway on the brown tumultuous lake - only for a second and then we were past. ... behaviour. Next, it was time to disagree again. Should we sleep outside, or in the tent? Bonnie predicted rain because she didn't feel enough dew on the ground. It turned out she was right. We listened to her sage advice and slept inside. The clouds had already obscured the stars anyway, so it would have been pointless. ... have already gone home for the weekend as well as all the counsellors, even the camp director is nowhere to be found. Context: Bonita Glen is a camp near and dear to my heart. I came here way back in 1995, for my first "interprovincial" camp. It was a pretty monumental affair. It was the summer after grade 8, and I was super excited, because everyone who went to this camp had to pass a rigorous (for a 12 year old) paperwork process. Adult reference ...

I was very glad to be there for Adele and Derek's big day on Saturday! The sun came out just in time for the afternoon ceremony. Wedding was in Pennetangueshene (did I spell that right?) and the dinner at a golf club in Orillia. Nice area, my first time. The accomodation was her friend Lee's Inn and Spa (oooohhhh la la!). It was awesome and can recommend the Cavana in Orillia. My fascinator was a hit. Maybe.

WEll, it is official... I will be teaching in Linhe, Inner Mongolia. All I have to do is a) finish reports, b) finish my assignments and c) pack! At this stage I have a little of the "What did I get myself into?" thought. Flight departs on July 8th - goes to Washington - then on to Beijing!
