Jen here. I just visited friends and family in Memphis and am back in Owensboro. JD and I are trying to get the last details for our trip hammered out before we head in different directions. JD is going to the Nevada Outback for a weekend with the guys, and I'm traveling to Long Beach, CA to participate in a half marathon with the ladies. Is there any better way to travel on an overseas flight than with really sore legs? I ...
Owensboro, Kentucky, United States jenandjd... 8217;s wonderful about taking in abused birds and helping them recover. She’s also very funny and we loved just talking to her—she also enjoyed meeting Aloysius who immediately climbed up on her too! He really is shameless.

We were sitting outside the trailer, chatting and up drives Pamela. She had all her birdies and her moose-dog, Butch with her so her entourage was almost as large as ours! We had a ...
Owensboro, Kentucky, United States patgower... and a whole family living there is hard to imagine. There is also an enclosure outside the cabin memorial that protects "Sinking Springs" where the family got their water. It’s a sinkhole with a running spring—there was a little frog sitting there wondering why people were taking pictures of water and rocks. The other site, “Boundary Oak”, was where a huge oak tree used to mark the boundary of the ...

On the way we marveled at the gardens: huge extravagant peonies in many gardens, roses everywhere, vegetables growing beside almost every house. This afternoon we'll walk the Cathedral labyrinth and I plan to spend some more time in the Roofless Church (called so because the sky is overhead). Photos of that later.

Evansville, Indiana, United States rurucruWe reluctantly left this great hospitality at nine this morning (the other cyclists had left at 5:30 to do the same distance). Another good days progress was made and, to the horror of Hodge and Tom, we spent the night at a camp site at Rough River. More swimming in the river and a lazy afternoon in sun was enjoyed by all ...
Sebree, Kentucky, United States eyeride... Elvis lookalike and all. The second lunch was enjoyed by all given that it was not bought on our budget! We proceeded to spend the next 4 hours in a rigorous match of Four Square (the local game that Pastor Bob introduced us to). Supper was even better than lunch and we were treated to our second serving of vegetables this trip, while we exchanged stories with another ...
Sebree, Kentucky, United States eyerideWe left at around 9:30 today and hit the road straight after breakfast. We did a short detour to see the Serpent Mound and some related stuff. Signs were saying that it has something to do with an ancient culture from around 800 BC. In fact the signs and some small hills are everything what can be seen there. Total waste of time especially taking for consideration the fact that it is much colder today than it was yesterday. Talking about the weather - we heard in the morning news ...
