... favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner.

And as we pulled up, it started to rain. Violently!

Edgardo ordered almost everything on the menu for Ronja and I. He ordered 4 different types of chalupas, a small tostada with meat (pork or chicken) and salsa. We had chalupas con salsa verde (green salsa), chalupas con picante (red salsa), chalupas sin salsa (without salsa) and chalupas con frijoles (with beans).

And I had a few bottles - glass bottles, not ...
Puebla, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico meluebke... I was very nervous as I was the main communicator due to my Spanish background. I think I did okay :) At least I hope I did!

After 4 groups of children, we took a break for lunch. Because UWP provides our lunches, I had no intention of eating.

Until 3 little boys with baskets straight out of the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale came up to me, offering me different types of tortillas.

How was I supposed to say no?

In other words, I ...
Puebla, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico meluebke... some time to ourselves.

Later that night, after dinner, Ronja and I watched a show called "TV de la Noche", a program similar to Saturday Night Live in the United States. After an hour and a half of watching the program, we saw what we had been waiting for: Viva la Gente Live! A few members of our group (Viva la Gente is Up With People in Spanish) did a promotional spot in Mexico City last week while the rest of the cast traveled to Veracruz. It was awesome and, since "TV de la ...
Puebla, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico meluebke... is easy to navigate. We mooched around the main square and sat on one of the iron benches for a little while admiring the fountain, people, catherdral and gardens. We then headed back to the hotel to eat in the courtyard. We ordered the worst margaritas in the world. We couldn't believe it. In bloomin' mexico... We got tequilas in cos they were undrinkable. Puebla, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico amazingjourneys... tasty. Our return ride was much smoother than the one into the City. We discovered some of the buses have comfortable padded seats and cautious drivers. Back at the campground we joined the other campers; mostly Canadians, for Happy Hour and all shared the day's adventures. Here we learned where to explore the next day. High on our priority was the Market and the famous Talavera Potter ...
Puebla, Mexico kbramblings... lost. In the bus on the way to the safari (before i knew how nice the bus driver and guide would be) i was a little nervous but also excited by the opportunity to show (hpoeully) that i could make it, atleast in this simple situation, on my own. I think this excitement was mostly for proving it to myself more than anyone else. I was also nervous at what poeple back home would feel about me going out alone...i figure they may be even more stressed about it ...
Puebla, Mexico kimbutterfly15... 2 painted tiles with a butterfly and a dragon fly that were raised and a small box with a mariachi (sp?) band inside, like a diarahma and all three things were $10, and I think that is the most i have spent in one place with the exception of the psot office buying stamps (hee-hee)! I found lots of other cool stuff too...but you will have to wait til i get home to hear about and see those...otherwise there will be nothing exciting for me to tell when I get back!
Puebla, Mexico kimbutterfly15... city called Teotihucan, which in its day) around 700AD was the 4th biggest city in the world with a population of 250,000. Construction however was started before the time of Christ. It was fascinating to see some of the buildings so in tact still, and some of the building materials still held original colour. There were two pyramids, the Temple of the Sun (which we climbed to the top) and the ...
