... We found a nice place for lunch down by the water and enjoyed a nice long lunch of pasta and wine. Tonight we are eating out and can pick from a few local restaurants that our tour director has recommended. Had a great meal at our restaurant - perfectly cooked steak and Julie had her favourite rack of lamb. Together with great wine, the evening was a success. ...

First stop today was to travel by boat up the coast to the town of Portofino. This town is where the celebrities go to be noticed. We did not see anyone however this is a beautiful little town and we had 2 hours to wander around the shops and cafés. A number of pictures are attached. A relaxing morning aboard consisted of a sleep-in until 9am (thanks to blackout curtains in the cabin) and a full buffet breakfast on the Sun Deck as we watched the Italian coast slip by. Just before midday the ship arrived at the port of Bari on the south-eastern coast of Italy (the heel of the boot).

We reported to the concierge lounge and within minutes were on the tour bus on the road ...

... bridge, we ended up on a small lane, scarcely wide enough for two vehicles and partly submerged as the onshore wind dragged the waves up and over the low sand bank which separated us from the three or four small car ferries that were just pulled up on the sand that probably shuttled people, cars and cargo up the Gulf of Corinth towards Athens and back. Anyway it was a great spot to take a photo of the bridge though I got wet doing so!
