Bari, Puglia, Italy david_chungOK if you're being technical he's bought a place next door on Lake Como...Brad's probably holed up there right now..(sorry I digress...)....but all the northern lakes are beautiful, much more mountainous than Lake Annecy or Geneva, more dramatic views. GREAT spot, best yet - the pitches were so small 1 night I could hear snoring from the tent next door but no matter, the views were amazing, the water a nice temp and Stu and I could ...
Lake Maggiore, Lombardy, Italy sarahandstutour... we looked at our hotel, we took a walk in the beautiful weather to see if we could find some food, because we were starving at this point. We found a little pizzaria. We ordered appetizers which were DELICIOUS. zucchini wrapped around richotta, portabello mushrooms, meatballs, eggplant (mom would have died), and mashed potatoes. It was delicious. We got pasta after, and they were kinda mad because we didn't order 2 courses, which you're supposed to do in Italy. After lunch the ...
Bari, Puglia, Italy pandajax365The first little test of this facility is this sentence which described how walking through the blistering midday streets of Bari I came upon this red bike which seemed to glow against the old wall where it leaned. Fine pic possible I thought and fine pic I think it is. What do you think?
Bari, Puglia, Italy hdailly... back on the plane. Praia a Mare was fantastic. We went to the same Buddha Beach bar each day, hired our 3 loungers and an umbrella and drank them out of cold Heiny's! The girls spent hours in the water and mum finally got a decent tan to take home to Invercargill! We hired a pedal boat one afternoon and took off around the island, hard work for grant and I. The island had beautiful caves that we went into where the water was so blue and clear you could see millions of fish for miles.
Praia A Mare, Calabria, Italy lisamurphy... our sights set on Sicily. We made a group decision to only drive 200km's and stop for the rest of the day at the beach. What a great decision! Praia a Mare was a little town on the coast with crystal clear water and amazing shingle beaches! We spent the afternoon snorkeling and drinking Heiny's! We could have stayed here for at least a week but with Mum here and wanting to show her as much as we can we left again the next morning on the coastal road to the ferry to take us to Sicily.
Praia A Mare, Calabria, Italy betucaok so after a really rough 9.5 hr ferry we arrived in Bari at 830am..... checked out packs into baggage storage and went off to source some brekkie.... after spending the last 5 days on a boat... we had some funny sealegs goin on so each time we sat down and even stood still it felt like we were still on board the boat and swaying.... so ...
Bari, Italy lindalu... solution. As dusk approached, we drove to the hill town of Matera, which is one of the most interesting places we had seen so far. It is set in and on a couple of rocky hills, as the poor locals excavated thousands of dwellings in the side of the cliffs, complete with plumbing systems! This went on for hundreds of years, right up to the 1950s. We went inside one of the dwellings which had been restored to display how people would have lived inside the caves, which ...
Puglia, Italy andrewmarnie... you are not alone." The moment was dripping with irony, so much that I had to hold back a sob. A frightening bus ride in to Bari landed us at the hotel Romeo across from the University. We hit the streets to find some food. Bari is a bit wild- I told Shilo that I felt like Nick Cage heading in to Liberia in "Lord of War", only he knew someone was in charge. We found really cheap pizza... A Pizza- the pizza was bad and we can't remember where we went. It was ...
