... and steep, steep climbs....I doubt that stilettos are a big seller over here! We wandered and climbed and climbed to lookouts - miradouro - not doing anything in particular but just soaking up the great atmosphere. I really love this place, and could see immediately why Kate suggested this trip. Her Portugese served us very well throughout and it feels good to have one person who can communicate so easily - ...

Today we spent a lovely day on a beautiful sandy beach on an island about 45 minutes by ferry from the mainland. Basically we swam in crystal clear waters, sunbathed a bit (with lots of sunscreen!), ate a bit and swam a bit more. We arrived at the beach about 11.00am and we caught the 3.30pm ferry back to Olhao.

... air we asked to be moved and Manuel agrees to move us inside. A short stint on the resuscitator and we are good to go. Nice lunch. Aboard carriage No.81 - only 6 carriages so can't work that one out. Then it's a relaxing 3 1/2 hour trip to the south of Portugal. Faro the destination. Along the way we saw lots of orange orchards, lots of cork trees, more orange trees, lots of little villages with houses all painted white. Did I mention ...

My birthday! We took the ferry and headed for Vila Real San Antonio (on the Portuguese side) in search of a special final Portuguese lunch but didn't manage to find exactly what we were after so headed back to Ayamonte for some tapas.
Oh before that we tried to help one yacht which ran aground just as it was leaving the entrance of the marina – it hit the mud pretty ...
