Our main reason for stopping in Coimbra was to see the ruins of Conimbriga. It was a Roman city that was inhabited between the 9th century BC and the 7th century AD. So, a LONG time ago. ... I always feel comforted when I see nuns or visit places where the religious experience for some is extreme, such as Fatima or Lourdes. This feeling of comfort stems from actually witnessing the enormity of belief. A belief which can lead some people to dedicate their lives to God - nuns, priests, monks etc. Or to build a huge sanctuary dedicated to Mary's apparition told by three shephard children.
