Diving in Deep Blue waters

So here we are in the beautiful Bay Islands of Honduras. It has been Amazing since the moment that we arrived and we are staying at this cute little place that has a small kitchenette, hot running water and within walking distance of the dive shop we are using, the beach and most of the bars. Today we had our first day of dive class and steph experienced her first Scuba Dive. It was amazing! Deep Blue waters teeming with fish and tall, colourful coral. We even saw a Green Turtle and a Puffer...

Roatan

We stayed on Roatan for 13 days, longer than we planned. Lucys mate Vegas, the islands friendly American electrician/Project Trust rep met us and took us for lunch, a guy from his electrical business was waiting at the ferry terminal for us with a big sign with LUCY on it which was cool. As we left the terminal in the jeep, we saw a massive croc chilling in the sun. We spent the first week in Sandy Bay in a casita we got a cheap deal on from a nice Austrian couple on the internet. The second...

Learning to Dive in Paradise

... and learned how to stand on our heads hovering underwater :) We then swam along the edge of the reef, down to 90ft and back through a canyon in the coral to our starting spot.

I met Kalin once the boat was back, we said goodbye to our roomies from Quebec who were leaving the island and then went for some rotisserie chicken, coconut rice and beans and big couscous like(but bigger) pasta salad for lunch. She headed for the beach and thanks to my sunburnt back, I thought this ...

Utila

... noisy with music and full of people friends of them. In the begining I couln't believe it. I mean, you have a business, a hostel, and you use it to make your own aprty, without taking into consideration what the people who are paying to live there think??? But then I understood and was very happy of having the opportunity of assisting to the party. That is another world different from that one that I know. I cannot judge it the same way, I must accept it or just go home ...

Whale Sharks!

... and followed the shark, when I went to go back up, I realized that I had dove down much deeper than I intended and was worried I wouldn't make it back up! But I did. We all rode home with big grins on our face. Even though we had to drag Rikki onto the boat in the first place because he didn't want to go, he looked impressed on the ride home. That night I worked at the bar from 8pm til 2am and was exhausted when I got home. But it was all worth it!

Guatemala:done, El Salvador: done, next: Honduras!

... heading for the border and El Salvador. San Pedro La Laguna, in Lago Atitlan was our last port of call and it was just gorrrgeous! I can't wax lyrical enough about the place. The town itself was a small cobble streeted hilly place, with tiny winding paths through gardens and houses that would lead you from one side of town to another. On one of our explorations through the town we stumbled upon an English pub... a perfect discovery! Being close to Christmas it meant that we could have ...

Bay Islands

... a few months to 18 years for one! On Monday, it was independance day! We arrived at the best moment. In Utila, they put up a box ring, and anyone who wanted to go boxing just found himself a partner and well... went for it. After that, they took a 15meter-post, greased it and attached 5000 Lempiras on the top (about 250dollars). The point was of course to get to the top bear hands and foot and fetch it. But no one managed ...

Can I get a Hallelujah?

We are so sorry that it has been so long since we last wrote but we were on a mission to get back to the beach and we have experienced some technical difficulties (expensive internet)! So when we last left you we were still in Antigua and we absolutely loved that city, we even had the cheap restaurants on lock down, when we realized that this trip was supposed to be a coastal journey and we were in the middle of Guatemala ?!? So we decided to make the long journey back ...

Sun, sand and sickness

... the air con while Greg was off diving! - The most annoying frogs you have ever heard, singing a chorus outside our window every night. Gotta love earplugs though. - The ferry ride over to the island. We knew things were looking dodgy when we got into open water and they started handing out sick bags. And there was a lot of sicking going on too. We managed to avoid it by staring at the horizon for the full hour and a half.

... order to pick up the key and actually find the rental. B) Have taxi driver stop at 3 ATMs all of which are out of money. C) Stop at internet place and praise modern technology for it's ubiquity and for storing information so that we no longer have to remember it, write it down, or even remember where we put the written down piece. D) Have taxi stop at Barefoot Charlies to pick up key from property manager before going to cabin.
