I love this city

... and enjoyed the quieter city life here. Cuautla is a gorgeous city and from Buzz's apartment kitchen we have the best view of the sunset.

The next day, we drove out to see Skydive Cuautla. I was most surprised when we pulled up. At the end of the runway there was a plane that had crashed months ago laying there with a tarp over it. The tail was sticking out though and I could see a fuscia pink color. Then I found out it was a King Air. Our King Air that we flew ...

In San Miguel de Allende

... lots for three more to be developed. All of the homes were new construction. As I walked back toward the Centro I found other construction sites and a lot of trucks delivering supplies. I got back to the Jardin and decided to head back on Reloj to our casa. I saw Sheila at the corner near the Biblioteca and she was on her way to her appointment. I told her that I needed to get my passport to get my library card and would see her when she got back. I went to the library and found I ...

... Their website is www.adventuresidecar.co.uk. We all decided we needed a break from the high temperatures and set a course to Tixla, where there are promised waterfalls and good swimming holes in cooler, higher elevations. We made it to Chilpancingo, the capital of the state of Guerrero by nightfall and slipped into the inexpensive (300 peso) Hotel Muniz for the night.

Stop over

There are two ways to travel in Mexico. Or you can take a direct and expensive bus or for the same journey, take about 4 or 5 buses, spend twice the time but save half of the money. You will hve guessed, we chose the second option. So we travelled all day and stopped over in the middle of nowhere really, so we could carry on the next day and reach Acapulco.

Étape 31 - De Queretaro à San Miguel de Allende

Spending time in Colonia San Antonio

... A huge new home is being built "right next to" our casita and the owner's house. That results in all kinds of construction noises on our walls. First morning we thought someone was breaking into our bathroom with a sledge hammer. Houses in the $500kUS and up are common in this neighborhood which would have been considered too Mexican for many visitors a few years ago. Whenever we walk "out" toward the jardin which is the center ...

... country, and they are after all our neighbors. Before I sign off, here is a copy of a short essay I wrote after visiting a butterfly sanctuary between Patscuaro and San Miguel De Allende. El Rosario The walk to the entrance of El Rosario was cool and crisp in the new light of the rising sun. Stopping for blue corn tortilla and manchego cheese quesadillas and a hot cup of joe gave us some much needed energy, but made it hard to get up and walk the ...

(monica knows I am not allowed near water with my camera for that reason) The cliff diving was pretty cool (there were 5 of these guys), and they spent a great deal of time praying before diving, which made me wonder if it was just for show to ...

Taxco

Taxco is the silver capital of mexico... I think it may have been gems idea to go there... we went to many shops, and were witness to one of the craziest religious ceremonies I have ever seen... not that I have seen that many. not judging the ceremonies, mind you, but I don't think that it was really our cup of tea.
