... been around for more than a thousand years or so. It's a very peaceful place, and for the most part this rubs off on it's inhabitants. Many days I enjoyed a walk by the river purely to sup on the calm. It was a nice change of pace from Madrid.

The first full day I was there of course I went around to taste some Port from every place that would give me some. It's an interesting drink, and much like wine in the sense that good Port is good, and bad Port is ...

... are. The distilleries were surprisingly accessible, with all of them offering tours of the caves and tastings, for a fee of course. We were only able to visit a couple (Porto seems to close for 2 hours during lunch) before catching our evening flight out, but we are glad to have tried some new and very interesting kinds of port. Thank you Portugal, we will be back to see more.

We arrived without incident after a short and pleasant journey. Odd campsite mainly permanent encampments! Most of them looked like they had been there for many years. We were entertained by families arriving over the weekend to pack up for the winter. They cleared out all the rubbish that they had accumulated over the summer. They then covered their caravan.awning and covered area with tarpaulin and tied it down and put stones ...

We drove to Madelana about 8 kilometers from Porto. As we got near Jessica decided that she was no longer going to be our sat nav floozie and left us in the lurch in a narrow cobbled street. A kind passerby volunteered to accompany us out of difficulty but there was no room in the car. Where upon a passing motorist stopped and offered to lead us to the camp site. There followed a journey down twisting cobbled streets some of them two way as he stopped the oncoming ...

... looked like there was no order to the waves and they were crashing all over the place. The sea looked angry that day my friends. The next day, we spotted some surfers and set out to rent some boards but all the surf shops were closed (because all the owners were out surfing). The super cheap ghetto tourist shops that sell **** were open, so we opted for 2 hardcore boogie boards ...

... the better part of an hour looking for any restaurant that was opened. Our meals were : a tuna salad (a can of tuna, unrippened tomatoes and lettuce) and pork (a peice of pork, rice and french fries.) Long story short we were more then enthusiastic to get on the road in the morning to leave Porto behind

Guess this is the wind down point after two months on the road before I headed back to Ye Olde London town which is probably why I haven't much to report. With a little over a week in Portugal I doubt I did the country justice and only touched the surface. I hit the little hostel which was new and a little inexperienced at it as they had quality ...
