... has been jumping up and down since we decided to go to Portugal because he was so excited to get his hands (and his mouth) on some Portuguese food. Well he wasn’t disappointed. First of all, the food is so inexpensive. None of our meals have been over 10 Euros each. The food is delicious. Pork, Chicken, Seafood. It’s all cooked wonderfully and comes with rice, fries, a small salad and a drink. Chris has been enjoying the Sumols which is an orange ...
Porto, Northern Portugal, Portugal ktchris... flight there was either a person or a recording on the intercom trying to get you to buy something, and if thats not bad enough each advertisement was replayed in 5 different languages. It felt like flying in an internet porn advertisement.
Other than feeling the need for a shower after being neck deep in commercialism for an hour, the flight went swimmingly.
I arrived in Porto later in the evening, and contented myself with getting to the hostel ...

It really is a shame we already booked our flight to France from Porto. We could have easily stayed an extra week in Portugal, there is so much to see here. But we did pretty good with our 2 days in Porto. It's right on the river and the ocean, and on one side of the river are tons of cute, old tiled homes, that look across to the other side of the bank where all of the old Port ...
Porto, Northern Portugal, Portugal tommcatt... We arrived safely thanks to these total strangers. He advised us not to take the caravan into Porto.
The next day we went on the bus to Porto and discovered why. The 8 kilometer journey took about an hour as the bus travelled in ever decreasing circles through streets normally impassable to a bus without the use of a horn and the assistance of disgruntled lorry and car drivers who had to backup. On arriving in Porto feeling shaken and stirred we discovered a ...
The next day we hit the road to Porto which was a substantial drive of about 5-6 hours. Luckily this is the day the weather decided to turn, so the bad weather was endured from the comfort of the car. We arrived late to Porto and checked into our less then elegant hostel. Our meal was no better. We ...
(this is part one of an email carved in half. Part 2 follows) ... remember the "f" word, remember the "f" word, remember the "f" word ... "flexibility", Shane [from the Antarctic expedition] would gleefully shout! We traveled from Salamanca to Guarda (in Portugal) by bus without the slightest hitch. We picked up our rental car and drove back towards the Spanish border to Almeida with only the usual motorway signage hitches. We experienced our first night of the ...
Amarante, Portugal hdhAhh, I made it to Portugal finally. Never thought it would come. It´s been a rough few days. My first day I got super sun burnt. Not so fun. Guess that happens after not really getting much sun in the past year and a half at least. I´m paying now. Portugese men, and a pain in the ass. At least the ones in Porto. Lost my digital camera, so I am screwed for the next two months. My fault I know, but I´m trying not to let it get me down. Sort of feeling alone at the hostel too as everyone is ...
