... nearly every great man, like da Vinci and Galileo, hasn't been born yet. While the city bleeds of culture and architectural innovations, I wish that I could have met da Vinci and discussed how he managed to make a realistic painting of a woman and how Galieo figured out all his astronomical research first hand. I'm gonna go down to Rome to go sneak a peak of Rome an travel there in horse and wain horse and wagon.

... failed trip six months previous - sometimes things are just meant to be.

This is an indulgent way to travel. Most people on the train seem to 'have money' and just when you thought that you were doing very well in life you suddenly realise that others have probably done far better. You also get to see the different (stereotypical) nationalities too, from thong (flip flops) and jean wearing Aussies, to white trainer (sneaker) and jumper ...

... a gondola ride (or at least that's what I told Jamie)! A great first day! Day two we had pre-booked our entrance into Basilica Di San Marco before we left Canada, which proved to be a good decision because there was a crazy line up of people waiting! It was a beautiful, very gothic looking church with 24carat gold leafing mosaics on the ceiling. After that we headed to the Rialto Market again to see all the fish this time (when we got there yesterday they were all packing up). ...

... millions of giant suitcases! What a hassle for everyone. I packed light, and I will tell you next time I will pack about half of what I did this time. Anyway, as we are getting on the train this lady with a small purse and colorful pants was getting on too- karl was lifting his bag on to the train (there were a crushing amount of people) and she goes to grab his bag and help him and I said NO! So she stopped. I thought maybe she was in the luggage scam gypsy gang, and then I felt ...

... although not exactly 'a few steps away', filled with locals on a Friday night. Don chose the spaghetti Vonogle (small and fresh baby clams about the size of your thumbnail) and I had fegato Venezia style (calves liver with onions). Both were wowzers! We finished off with a salad and stumbled back to the hotel, stopping only once for a gelato to end the day on a sweet note. :-)
